The Thunder Zone

Post#1 » by SD2042 » Mon Oct 6, 2008 5:07 pm

Most team boards have community threads for their posters to post about any events happening around the region or nationally other than bball. Any events like the baseball playoffs, presidential election, movies, or what's happening in OKC right now for example. As usual, the same rules still apply. Making it's debut to the OKC boards, I bring you " The Thunder Zone".

Pretty much. We have one on the Laker board where members can talk about anything they want not related to basketball. Just a kickback spot to chill at.

There's only one rule in our community thread (besides the TOS ones), and that is:

No one discusses basketball in the community thread.

That's the idea. For posters who wish to talk about anything outside of bball. I will attempt to break the ice.

The baseball playoffs. For those who follow baseball, which two teams you think will make it to the finals and could win it all at the end of this month?

Phillies vs.Dodgers
Rays moved on
Red Sox vs. Angels series still going 2-1 with RS leading.

A big possibility of a Red Sox/Dodgers series could happen considering with Manny Ramirez used to play for the Sox and is now a Dodger. if this series happens, I'm thinking Dodgers in 6 with Manny's Revenge in mind.

What are some of your thoughts on the election now that we have a historical first time African American president elect in Barack Obama?

My take is that is was the most historical event in world history. If an African American can reach what was though the unreachable, then anyone can achieve the impossible. Obama's speech was remarkable to say the least. The way he reached out to the American ppl, no matter what race, political party, nor orientation, says that change has begun and that America will come back from the issues that has stagnated the country for over a while. Change won't happen overnight like Obama said. Through patience, hard work, and determination, this country will eventually get back in the right direction that it needs to go towards.

SD, I agree that it is pretty historic, and definitely a proud time for the black community (as well as millions of other people)... but to talk it the most historical event in world history isn't just missing the a little off-base, it's completely missing the boat. There have been empires that have risen and fallen, races that have come from worse and risen to more, and greater feats than a man (who happens to be black) winning an election that was pretty much handed to him by a publicly disliked Republican party. Not trying to minimize his accomplishment or the adversity that the black community has overcome, but this was the Dem's election from the beginning and whoever they put out there probably should have won.

Probably overzealous with the world history comment, but it's still a historical nonetheless. Whether it was Obama or McCain, the next president would inherit a big mess they have to seek better solutions towards recovery like the economy, jobs continuously being loss daily and the War on Terror. Like Obama said, it will take more than a couple of yrs and more than 1 term to get things right for the United States.

here's a topic.

What's some of yall on Plaxico Buress and his future with the Giants? should the G-men pay him the bonus he ould get at the end of the season or should the Giants do away with him after the season Burress has endure to this point?

More likely, Burress is looking for another team to play for come the offseason. Too many issues has surrounded him this season from the late practices, to suspensions, to shooting himself in the leg at a club and now getting shutdown due to his own actions. Burress no longer a Giant. I'm callin it.

I figured that Jesus guy (you know, Yehoshua) would have something to say about Historical Significance.
