Player of the Game (11-12-08) - Jazz @ Wizards

Post#1 » by miller31time » Thu Nov 13, 2008 3:37 am

Here are your nominees from tonight's win against the Utah Jazz....

Image
Caron Butler - 27pts (9-20) / 9rebs / 3asts / 39mins / +5

Image
Antawn Jamison - 21pts (6-15) / 8rebs / 2asts / 43mins / +2

Image
JaVale McGee - 13pts (3-5) / 11rebs / 3blks / 27mins / +19

Image
Nick Young - 10pts (3-10) / 2rebs / 2blks / 27mins / +10

Image
Andray Blatche - 7pts (2-6) / 5rebs / 2asts / 21mins / +7

Image
Juan Dixon - 8pts (3-8) / 4rebs / 2asts / 18mins / +4

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the deal - after each win, we'll have a player of the game thread. The top-3 vote-getters will receive points...

1st place = 3pts
2nd place = 2pts
3rd place = 1pt

At the end of the season, I'll tally up the point totals and put it into a thread. We should have a good idea of who was the most valuable player, at least according to Wizards fans. :D

I'm going to give it to the coach for giving JaVail more playing time. Plus, EJ coached a good game.

My vote would be for JaVail. :usa:

1. McGee and it wasn't even close. Start him. Now. End of discussion.

2. Jamison - first time this year he was agressively looking for his shot in and around the paint rather than chucking up long jumpers all night long.

3. I'll give third to Butler by default. He had some nice stretches and just had a solid overall game but there were a couple of stretches where he was killing us (2nd qtr guarding Miles and early 4th with some poor decisions on offense). Still he's a net positive for us pretty much every night.

Also loved the fact that EJ went with the big lineup at times and even played Butler at SG.

POG ... McGee ... game changer.

2nd ... Caron ... solid, but am wary of the turnovers.

3rd ... meh .... I guess i'd hand it to Dixon

I agree. He changed the game on both ends. +19 is pretty spectacular, plus I'm pretty sure the 3 blocks is low... I believe I remember at least four of them.

Time to organize... go door to door, mobilize the grass roots to achieve justice: McGee must start, hey ho, Etan must go.

WizStorm, did you want to do the POTG threads? It's always been a staple of yours and I don't want to tread on your territory or anything.

(Plus, you always do a ridiculous job with them)

McGee. 27 minute is starters minutes, so...

I guess EJ is showing respect to the vets by starting them (AD and ET) but Young and McGee played 31 and 27 minutes.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

McGee he had a nice double double with 3 blocks and 5 fouls while shooting 4-5 not 3-5 as listed above.

I can do it. It just won't have all the nifty charts and graphs.

1. McGee
2. Bulter
3. Twan

Honorable mention to - Cough Cough .. EFJ for not totally blowing the line ups.

Play those line ups and those players around that many mins and we can beat a lot of teams.
Specially if we change the starting line ups.

Hell lot of players who could score more efficiently didn't even do it this game. We can build on this.

Oh, as for my votes...

1st place - JaVale McGee (Great game in under 30 minutes of action. Saved us countless possessions)
2nd place - Caron Butler (stat-stuffing performence but with a lot of TO's)
3rd place - Antawn Jamison (clutch shooting down the stretch, and decent defense as well)

Well I didn't get to catch this game, but I wish I could have seen McGee play. But his numbers and his huge "+" number says I should give him the vote.

JaVale, and it wasn't even close. Even with only 3 recorded blocks, he was altering shots all over the place, constantly in great position for rebounds, and flying to the basket. I haven't seen a big man ever jump/bounce like that, especially in a Wizards uniform. Ridiculous.

Unanimously:

1 - J. McGee
2 - C. Butler
3 - A. Jamison

Note: McGee jumps like Nate Robinson, the difference is that McGee is a 7'0, and Nate Robinson is a 5'9 ...impressive.
