Deron out again

Post#1 » by GP » Fri Nov 14, 2008 5:23 pm

Williams said his sprained left ankle is just too sore to go, and he probably won't play Saturday night in Cleveland either.

"I can't do anything," said Williams, who played in two games after missing the start of the season because of the ankle. "I can't push off of it, I can't move like I want to. So, there's no reason to play."

Damn it, he did too much too soon. Hopefully, this doesn't turn into something lingering, at this point, I would just shut him down until he is 100%. I don't understand this "sense of urgency" only 8 games into the season.

This is certainly not good news, but I think that we turn the reins over to Brevin Knight for the forseeable future. He was third in the NBA in assists two years ago, so let's let him run the point. Price can get 12-14 minutes spelling Knight. We win tonight, we likely lose tomorrow and we're 3-3 to start the year on the road. Not the end of the world...

Like he said, he can't do anything else to injure the ankle. He said earlier that the only thing he's dealing with is pain, it's not like he set the injury back.

Best case scenario he's fine by the Phoenix game, worst case scenerio he sits out another week and misses the game at San Antonio where the Jazz would finally have a chance to win for the first time since the 19 hundreds.

Man we are short-handed tonite, and Bobcats are athletic. Like all bad teams, they seem to beat us when we're on the road. Hope our reserves and other guys can focus and get us a win. It would be nice to separate ourselves a little in the loss column from the rest of the West....

Why the **** was he playing at all? I know he's the franchise player, but couldn't have Briggs and Sloan grown some and flat out refused his now aborted and premature come back. Perhaps it's a little extreme, but ... Grant Hill, anybody?

That's exactly what happened, by not resting his ankle he did set the injury back. Is he worse off now than if he would have just rested and received treatment? Yes. Ankle injuries just need time and rest. Its not his fault though, I understand that he just wanted to play, however, now he should just shut it down till he's healthy.

Are you frickin' serious????

More rest = quicker recovery.

Come back too soon = Re-hurt = More recovery time than if he had just stayed the **** off it.

I love Deron, but he needs to be overly cautious, rather than coming back too soon. I'm not worried though. This could be a very good lesson to prevent him from repeating it in the future.

Cat fan = :waaa: :waaa: :waaa:

Hey dude, don't fret. It's not your fault that cat = Pussy. We all know it's true.

Someday when your cats move to another city, you'll feel the pride that many of us have felt for 20 + years. I love my Jazz, but here's the truth.

Magic Johnson and Dominique Wilkins were both players who should've played the majority of their careers in Utah.

I always talked to my friends that D-will as better as CP3. No matter in real game, or the FBA.
So, wish he come back soon.

Update from Deseret News this morning:

Williams said he will continue to rehab and work to strengthen the ankle. He also said he may try to play Monday at home vs. Phoenix, but may have to wait until Wednesday against Milwaukee.

Okur, who returned to his native Turkey to be with his seriously ill father, missed a third straight game Friday and is expected to miss a fourth tonight.

As of Friday, the team still didn't know when he would return.

Kirilenko sprained and possibly dislocated the tip of his right index finger in Wednesday's loss at Washington. The forward from Russia suggested Friday morning that pain in the tender digit made playing impractical.

"I can't catch the ball. ... I can run, stay in the lane. But nothing with the ball," Kirilenko said, adding he wasn't sure if he'd be available tonight or not.

Kirilenko sprained the same finger during the preseason, but said "it's way worse right now."

Just hope DW is 100% whenever he decides to come back. Hope Memo and his family are doing ok.
