Trevor Ariza
I know that is still early in the NBA season but I was wondering if you think that we should go after Trevor Ariza. Trevor is 6"8 who can jump out of the gym and can be a lock down defender. He's improve his shot by bounds and leaps and at times he can make that spectaculor play that can change the momentum of a game. I would love to see him in a Suns uniform next season.
I know that many Lakers fans are going to say that he is not leaving them but thats what they also said abour Ronny Turiaf. If we can have Barnes and Ariza in the same team that would be a nice conbination in the SF position. At the pace that he is playing he is going to require a contract that consist of 3 yrs 24.5 mil. I would do that contract, that only thing that scares me is that before this year, he's been hurt for the most part of his career.
The Lakers are not going to be able to offord Kobe Bryant, Trevor Ariza, Jordan Farmer and Lamar Odom. They just gave Andrew Bynum a max contract as well.
What do you think?

Re: Trevor Ariza
Yeah Lakers have alot of nice pieces, personally I probally am going to get flamed for this but If the Suns had a chance they should trade Amare for Andrew Bynum. The Lakers probally wouldn't have done that last year considering Bynum was a beast but he got injured so now they might consider it since both Amare and Bynum had knee troubles but Amare would put them in a win now mode while Bynum would still keep the Suns in a win now mode but also give them a chance for the future. Bynum is 5 years younger than Amare and plays terrifc defense. Another guy who i'd love on the Suns would be Jordan Farmar but anyway since you're talking about Ariza yeah definately he would be great for the Suns.
A trade that could work would be, Leandro Barbosa for Radmonovic or Walton and Ariza to make the contracts work.

Re: Trevor Ariza
i dont like the trade
we have barnes, hill and diaw at the SF, thats a solid combo
our SG combo is bell barbs and tucker - to lose one of them to obtain another SF would be madness

Re: Trevor Ariza
I certainly wouldn't be giving Ariza that much money. He has too many issues and really is just a finisher around the basket and a good defender. IMO you don't give a swingman that kind of money for that skillset.
The fact we got Barnes for the minimum just goes to show that swingmen are dime-a-dozen and I wouldn't be using that much of my cap on him that's for sure.
I think we should be concentrating on other areas particularly Point-Guard. I know Hill and Bell are old and Barnes is on a 1-yr contract so we could be short of swingmen quite quickly, but it seems like every team you look at has one or two swingmen that are gathering dust on the bench which we could gamble on (without having to pay too much).

Not really, especially with D'Antoni gone. I think he was the only one with the hard on for Belinelli.

Re: Trevor Ariza
He is a nice player, but is not worth that much as of now. So far, I have been impressed with his outside shooting, but Im not sure he can create his own shot that well. I think hill and or Barnes is gone next year, and that is going to be a huge hole for us. KJ got it right, we also need pg help because Im not sure Dragic is goign to turn out.

Re: Trevor Ariza
if we´re working on a trade, we should look to develop our frontcourt. think we´re ok with the pg, sg and sf position. but the pf and c need to develope. especially since we´ll never know when shaq get´s injured or needs rest. hope we going ti have a shot at mcdyess. or could trade for someone like channing frye or charlie villanueva.
or maybe something like:
diaw / lopez for joe smith & chris wilcox????
that would definitly tighten up our frontcourt..

Haha...no way THEY trade Bynum for Amare either.... Their roster looks very good as is. IMO, only injury prevents them from the finals

Our best is better than the Lakers best. But can we achieve it? Hmm.

remember that gasol is a choker, bynum is unproven in the playoffs much more against the motivated shaq and kobe tend to be selfish ( they are a better team when kobe distributes the ball).
we'll see on thursday
Spurs.Grizzlies.Hawks.Bulls.Wizards.

Yeah, Lakers roster is good as stands, because Amare, Gasol and Kobe would be a pretty crappy trio

And agreed with those who say Barnes/Hill/Diaw is untouchable at this point and that we would take too big of a hit in return for Ariza.

My my my how the tables have turned..............Sun fans wanting Laker players ! Go figure.ray ray wrote:I know that is still early in the NBA season but I was wondering if you think that we should go after Trevor Ariza. The thing you don't understand is the thing with Ronny was more connected to two things, tax purposes and playing time seeing that Drew was going to play more this season. It had nothing to do with not being able to afford him. I love how everybody keeps saying the Lakers can't afford this or that, hell our payroll is not even in the top 5. Dr.Buss has repeatedly said he'll spend to keep the Lakers contenders and his track record proves that.ray ray wrote:I know that many Lakers fans are going to say that he is not leaving them but that's what they also said about Ronny Turiaf. Dude when the Lakers extended Bynum that pretty much mark the end of Odom..........pretty simple. We didn't even use our MLE this summer, that's enough right there to sign Trevor plus the fact that we got salary coming off this summer..........trust me Trevor will be taken care of his situation is totally different from Ronny's.ray ray wrote:The Lakers are not going to be able to afford Kobe Bryant, Trevor Ariza, Jordan Farmer and Lamar Odom. Bynum's younger, he's a skilled true center, and he hasn't had microfracture, so I don't see why that's such a big deal.

Re: Trevor Ariza
Some fans need to consider all the reasons teams trade players rather than just a straight talent comparison. Is Shaq better than Marion ? Is Ifverson better than Billups ? Comparing Bynum and Amare w/o considering their salaries (ABy = $5 mill less than AStat and is inked for 4 yrs) is myopic.
It is not surprising that LA is e x t r e m e l y high on this kid.
Nor is it surprising that some suns fans believe Amare IS the black Jesus.
They have different skill sets...and fill different rolls. And right now, Bynum is an excellent compliment to Kobe and Gasol. He fulfills their constant quest for a true center. The rich get richer.
WTF will be lining up for his shades soon

Re: Trevor Ariza
just one more reason why we wouldn't trade Bynum for Amare is defense, Bynum blocks shot and plays it and Amare isn't that good at it. If our D is bad right now then it'll just be worse with Amare. About Ariza, i think we'll resign him and let Odom go. Odom had his chance but if we win it all this year and he agrees too take a paycut he'll probably return with Trevor. This game on thursday is gonna be tough for us though cause i think Shaq is still too fa... strong for Bynum too handle and he might get in foul trouble. Team d will be the key and we have too run it on you guys i think.
Isn't that crazy, we have too run it against the suns
