JR Smith

Post#1 » by Bringbackoakley » Mon Nov 17, 2008 1:06 am

Hey guys,
trying to get some information of Smith, it is pretty hard to find some concrete stuff on him.

What is going on with him? Is he in Karl's doghouse again?

I thought he was going to move right into the starting lineup after AI left.

I am just thinking about it because he is on waivers in my fantasy league and I am wondering if he will ever crack the starting lineup, or see his minutes increase?

apparently karl wants to keep making him earn his minutes by playing smart and maintaining energy defensively....as opposed to just handing him the starting spot simply because iverson left.

i think most believe smith will be the starting sg and 30mpg+ player by seasons end, but nobody knows when it'll happen. could be a week from now, could be february. or he could be the 6th man all year with varying minutes and stats.

You must not know about Karl, he believes that he is such a good coach that it would be unfair for other teams to actually play against 5 nba talent level guys at one time, with his as their coach. Hence the reason he has always had at least one d-leaguer in his starting lineup since he joined the Nuggets.

JR's role off the bench is working for us. He doesn't start, but he usually finishes.

Really? Last few games I've seen, AC was on the court at the end of the game. That's games I've seen.. didn't see Wolves games.

I should have never taken back anything... he hasn't improved... it's either three pointer or dunks.

All aspects of his game this season, have been seen last season... there's nothing new to his game.

He has had made a few defensive plays that he doesn't make last year. His rebounding has been nice for us. I actaully thought he played better in the last couple of games then the guys he is backing up.

Like I've said before, I'm still ok with Dahntay starting, but only if JR finishes. Which hasn't been happening.

I wonder if J.R started and gained 30 minutes per game, would his game improve?

Well maybe taking a charge is something new... but besides it I think his D is getting even worse than last season.

This pre-season he showed some things different, like some mid range and aggressiveness on D... but the season starts, he regressed.

Luckily for him, we have Chauncey. I'm not saying he's the savior or hero... but with him, we now are able to play team defense and individual defense is not scrutinized so much anymore. Chaunce should also be able to help him and teach him how to play team D better.

When J.R. improves his team D, and his rotation meets the team standard... then he'll get a lot of minutes... but so far, he hasn't shown willingness to get better at D.

And I think he needs to learn to get physical. He can finish after contact but what physical here means is to learn the mid-range game, to learn post up, go around screens, initiate contact instead of having no choice... right now he's all finesse, just like last season.

No they wouldn't have. Denver's FO is extremely high on JR.

No way they would even consider trading him for Parker and a 1st.
