That is why I think he needs to be upgraded. With an above average defense, all you need is a QB that can not lose games. But if your defense is gonna be this bad, you need a QB who can change the outcome of games and as much as people love Kyle, the Bears are 4-4 in games he starts/finishes. I am not saying to not bring Kyle back, all I am saying is don't go into the off-season and say that the QB position is fine when it isn't.
And another thing, this team needs at least three WR. Right now we have this type of core (if slotted correctly)
3rd WR Lloyd
Gadget Guy Hester
5th WR/Spec Team Davis
Out of Job: Booker
So with that being said, I think we need to get a #1 receiver at least and a #2 couldn't hurt.
And Williams needs to start. St CLair isn't some world beater keeping the guys at bay, so why not go with the guy you invested in and can get valuable experience playing the final six games.
I swear everytime I see your user name, "Funkytown" starts playing in my head.
I think KO's performance prior to the GB game was nothing short of awesome especially given the average WR talent around him. Your attitude was as mine was when the season started - I saw Orton as a game manager and certainly not someone that could do anything once we were behind on the scoreboard - a mere placeholder until we could find better. I've seen enough games this year to make me a believer in Orton, though. I'll give him a pass on this past week coming back from injury. He'll be given every chance to solidify himself as the uncontested QB going into camp next year. Starting over at QB is a painful, painful process and one I thought we'd have to undergo in the '09 draft. I don't think that anymore. The game has clearly slowed down for him this year - he's hitting guys in stride, managing the no-huddle well, and avoiding the INTs. Should Neckbeard finish the season the way he started it, I see no reason to knock ourselves out looking for better.
I'm with you on the need for a #1 WR but I think Davis or Lloyd (if he gets his head on straight) could fill the #2 spot just fine with Hester as the #3. The needs all over the defense probably outweigh the receiver concerns in my book.
