KG's return to Sota'
Whats everyones thoughts on this?
His first game back playing in Sota' since he was a wolf.
Im hoping for a crazy ovation and more than that....some spot light and time to soak it in during player introductions (similar to what AI recieved in Philly his first time back as a Nugget).
Should be a very emotional time....

Re: KG's return to Sota'
I REALLY want to see KG back to his old ways and have a monster game.
20+, 15reb, 5ast and fill in the rest of the sheet with a Boston win.
Would be very satisfying seeing the best player to ever play for the Timberwovles go out on top.

Re: KG's return to Sota'
i hope the wolves win. hes not a wolf anymore. i want the pups to gain some confidence, this would be the IDEAL game in which to do it. not only the defending champs, but the guy who is apparently worth al, ryan, bassy and some scraps. Winning this could turn the season around, get us maybe 8 wins!

The ONLY positive Wolves got from that trade is that Big Al signed for far less that KG's current contract.

I think we'll win the game against the C's because half our team is playing against their old team so they will be pretty motivated

He didn't play when they came here last season, but he came out to a standing ovation and he was on the bench, so that will take some of the gloss off it.

Oh, be serious. Getting two 1sts wasn't a positive? Telfair was a throw-in, but turned out to be useful. Ryan Gomes was probably our #2 player last year over the whole season. Ratliff's big expiring wasn't a positive?

Re: KG's return to Sota'
I hope Al and Love just shut KG down, looking at how KG has been acting since the playoffs last year, and the incident with Calderon just last week or so, has made me think back to all the crap that he used to get in, like the time he got in the fight with Anthony Peeler when we play Sacto in the Western Confrence Semi Finals, and the Antonio Mcdyess fight when KG threw the weakest punch ever. I have really come to dislike KG lately.
So Al Jefferson 37 points 16 Rebounds 3 Blocks 3 assists 1 steal, Kevin Love 23 points 11 rebounds 6 blocks 8 assists
and KG 3 points 5 rebounds 1 block, half of a steal, and fouls out at the end of the 4th quarter, to a smatering of boos
Celtics lose in a close game 100 to 98

I was there last year and it was pretty awesome even though he didn't play. Wolves probably won't do anything besides player introductions but i am sure the fans will stand again but i don't think it will be as special as last year

So far all Jefferson, Telfair and Gomes have been useful for is getting the #3 pick last year... The money side of things is more difficult to evaluate. As a fan, it doesn't appear to have been useful thus far.

I refuse to agree that the production we got out of Gomes and Al Jefferson last year didn't provide $3 mil in entertainment.
Yeah, we didn't win a lot of games last year, but we were REBUILDING. We sent out an All Star, and a bunch of overpaid vets and got back some pieces to try to rebuild. We made great progress for the team in the future with youth, picks and cap space, even if the individual pieces didn't add up to 2007 wins.

Yeah, I was really pumped for it last year, but don't even care this year.

Who puts entertainment into a dollar value?

$3 mil is about what we paid the two, and what we got out of them was entertainment.
The team would have been a lot less entertaining last year without them.

I think we need to be prepared for an emotional KG much like last year in Boston. He wants to beat us as bad as we want to beat them, maybe more. He and Al will be jawing.

Re: KG's return to Sota'
Actually I think mileage varied on the entertainment value of last years team. For me, it wasn't so good. I am just not excited by these players. Al is a great scorer, but he is just too small/slow. If he was bigger, he'd be a great center. If he was faster, he'd be a great PF. If he had interest in defense, he'd be a great player - I just don't see it happening. Every once in a while he'll play a few minutes of defense, but it's pretty rare for guys to dramatically change their style at this point in their career. Let's just say he's a good player with legitimate flaws, much like every other player on the team. Twenty years ago when I first started watching the wolves I would have loved him, I would have taken great joy in his low basket play and just enjoyed that part of the game within the game. The same could be said about a lot of the players on the team, McCants looks awesome on occasion, Foye looks like a keeper some plays, etc. But at this point I'm more concerned about how players mesh, what are the team's real chances for improvement, and the game itself. Getting rid of KG basically meant throwing away any chance for a title for at least 5 years and hoping you might get that close one day again. When they had him they were always just one or two moves away from championship contention. Was that trade the worst way to end KG's MN career? Maybe not - I just haven't found a new player on the wolves yet that gets me excited about the future. They have a lot of good supporting pieces for the right team, but they sure don't look good together. Of course the coaching and front office are also to blame, but combined together I'd say they didn't give me much entertainment value last year. It's a bad sign when part of you is hoping they lose so that they might get a good draft pick that they'll actually keep and not trade away... and you're hoping this year after year.

Looks like if BOS loses, they can't blame it on being tired. They were up by 20 on the Pistons after three quarters, and nobody played 30 minutes.

Re: KG's return to Sota'
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Wolves pull this one out, or at least make it very interesting. All season every Wolves game has been close, then they (generally) find a way to lose. And most Celtics games have been close, then they (generally) find a way to win. So despite the records, the actual games themselves have been more competitive than 11/2 vs 2/8 would indicate.
Add to that the "trap game" element of the Celts just coming off a big win over main rival Detroit, that the Wolves are coming off a win, the playing-the-ex-team motivations, the Wolves are at home, and both games last season were super-tight...wouldn't be shocked with pretty much any result tonight, including a Wolves win.
