Hell no to all of these "trades".
Nash runs this team.

Re: What Would You Want For Nash?
Hmm...
Before I answer the OP's question I'd like to know a few things:
1. Do you feel Nash is as "essential" as he was with DA system compared to the Porter system (I'm not talking about our scrubby back up PG's) but rather if we had another veteran PG (a legit starter maybe not a star but a starter), would it make a big difference under the Porter system.
2. Do you feel Nash's skillset is being under utilized?
3. What is the honest assessment for the Suns for the next 5 years? 1st round exit? Finals?
4. What's our glaring weakness we can address (Assuming we can get rid of Shaq next year)
5. If Amare is the franchise player that he is showing to be, who would be the best complement in your opinion? (i.e what position).
~ - ~
My opinions anyhow:
1. Under the porter system (at least from what I saw), I really think it doesn't matter if we have Nash or (insert random vet PG) running the show. Our offensive sets are so different now, that if a non NBA fan were to watch the game, I doubt they'd know Nash was a star player.
2. I feel he is missing out on half his skillset, don't get me wrong he can still run a half court like any great PG but with the limited options he has running the new players all he's doing is mostly bringing the ball upcourt and dumping the ball inside.
3. Due to the age issues with the vets and the fact we have a contract we can't get rid of, I think the plan is to keep making the playoffs (or try to) wait till Shaq gets off the books and try to go for some FA love in 2010.
4. I don't know what it seems our shooting % has gone down drastically, I may be biased a bit but I still think our biggest weakness is in coaching and not the players.
5. If the idea is to pound it inside and let Amare create (which he's gotten better at), the best fit imo would be a big defensive centre who can create the space for him (someone younger and more atheletic then shaq).
Other then that, assuming we're still talking about a Nash trade why is Portland our only trading partner? Aren't there other teams hurting or wanting to improve the PG position for a good return? As I'm also a Raps fan, I can't help but wonder if we couldn't work something out with Calderon. He's certainly no Nash in his prime but he's young signed to a very reasonable contract and on the cusp of being a real star player. Where Nash "creates" well for his players, Calderon "manages" well for the team with having a lot of assists and less turnovers.
So contract wise they almost match + random filler, Phx gets a good young PG to build for the future on Amare that won't be too pricy but good value. Toronto gets a rental of Nash for at least 2 years and both Nash and JO's contract comes off the books in 2010. It's a win win for both teams imo.

I'm not thrilled with the idea of trading MVSteve, he should retire a Sun. But if we were too, I would love to see (other than Roy of course) Bayless and Rodriguez in Suns uniforms.

DrFunk hit the nail on the head, he's a wasted talent in this system. Someone basic like Blake could run this offense, while you can improve at another position(s) in a trade. Resting Steve, dumping down half court style, at what point do you consider that it defeats the purpose having someone like Steve in this limited role. If they think the playoffs they can simply put an on switch on Stevey and all systems will be a go, I think they'll be in for a rude awakening.
