Any link? Anderson's emergence probably ahs something to do with that I would assume if it is true.

this isn't a "demand" he wants more money, bears might not even start the guy, won't get 10+ sacks here with our rotations. He has 3 years left, unless we get an amazing trade, he stays till next offseason.

Honestly, trading him for a 2nd or 3rd round pick makes sense. Clears up money for extensions for Harris and some day Anderson. We got another good de in draft.

Alex Brown is a very bright guy. He understands the Bears can't pay him what he can get elsewhere. All the free money is going to Tillman/Vashar/Harris/Anderson on that D before he sees a dime of an extension or rework. He is wise enough not to burn his bridge, not to get himself labeled as a problem. I think he also realizes he's never going to get credit for his skills as part of such a strong overall unit. He looks around the league and sees what DET paid Dewyane White, what CLE paid Robaire Smith, what David Bowens got from NYJ--Brown is a better player than all those guys, and he knows he's not going to get paid like they did if he stays in CHI, and also that spending another season in CHI rotating with Anderson and Idonije is going to dampen his value.

Having said all that, he's not going anywhere. They have enough issues with Briggs and the two CBs, both of whom are already making noise about fat extensions this summer or else. Nobody is going to give the Bears anything immediately useful for him. Let me rephrase that--nobody should give them anything useful for Brown, who is a good player but not a difference maker in a new system under a new coach.

This is turning into a disaster for us. Briggs started this mess and the other players realize it's working and they want in.

this is not a disaster. Briggs started "trying" to get traded, but we haven't. Now if we did trade briggs, i can see that logic, but the briggs situation should stop guys from trying.

I think we were kinda planning on replacing him since we did take a DE pretty high in the draft

Exactly--it's why Angelo is playing hardball with Briggs, and why he's right for doing so. Drew Rosenhaus (Briggs' agent) is basically admitting as much too. Note that he's also Tommie Harris' agent (Olsen & Hester too, FYI)and he knows Harris is a much bigger meal ticket than Briggs, and that's even more reason why Briggs is screwed, unless he changes agents.

I would be that had something to do with it. I still can't wrap my head around that pick. He better be able to play DT.

If Brown and Briggs are gone this season, I dont see us having a very strong defense.

I'll put money on the fact that without brown and briggs we'll still be a top 3 defense. Our key guys are harris, tank, wally, anderson, urlacher, and our entire secondary being healthy as they are good when on the field.

Briggs hurts us a little, brown not at all.

I say get rid of him. He's not a consistent player at all. I also think that it allows Anderson to get more playing time. Imagine how you would feel if you were Briggs if the Bears traded Brown. Talk about a slap in the face.

I dont mind the trade, as long as you get a first day pick out of it.
