Jerry Stackhouse
I am surprised no one has started a thread about this yet. I don't know if he is looking for a buyout or a trade.
I don't think a trade is feasible, but if the answer is buyout, we absolutely need to try to grab him. We have no one coming off the bench who can create offense like him. I know he is not a lock down defender, but we need offense. It will lessen the burden on Paul and Ray.
Further, i would not be concerned that he is demanding to get out of Dallas. Carlisle has a history of clashing with players. I think he would mesh well with Doc, and the locker room atmosphere here would keep him in line.
Thoughts . . .

Re: Jerry Stackhouse
The clash with Carlisle is likely over the fact that Jerry can give up a triple double to Yi's chair.
I don't think that is what Doc is looking for.

I wouldn't mind seeing him here, maybe he'll buy into the team defense concept.

a game last week i saw Stack play some pretty tough D on Kobe I know it was only one game but it doesn't seem like he is the non defender you guys think he is.

Question for those who don't want Stackhouse...who should we bring in instead?

We're 9-2 while ironging out some bugs... if it ain't broke don't fix it. Especially for someone with a large fork sticking out of their back.

Yes he is. Again, sure he is capable of playing one on one defense for a possession or stint, but he is completely unable to fill his role in a team defense. It is one thing to be a step slow or bad laterally were essentially that hurts you defensively, you look bad say Wally World for instance. It is another to just not pick up your assignment so somebody else ends up looking bad trying to guard your man that is Stack. Now he is a crappy offensive player to boot.

Re: Jerry Stackhouse
for every reason why Ray Allen isn't on the level of Pierce or KG for this team, there is the exact same reason why Jerry Stackhouse won't help us at his age.

it doesn't really matter too much if he does not D up, though he a=is at least as credible as Ray. We have TA to do that. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but this team has struggled to create offense at times this year, and I don't think it will get any easier as the season goes on relying solely on the Big 3. Stackhouse can come in and score points, and this team will need that. Further, he has been one of the best and most consistent reserves in the NBA over his time in Dallas.

I like him as a role player/locker room presence. I don't like him more than TA, he brings different things to the table not necessarily better things. If he could play a Posey-esque SF/PF role I'd be interested, but he is a 2-guard. I'd pass as well

There's a better chance of both Stackhouse and McDyess ending up in Detroit, than either of them landing in Boston.

Re: Jerry Stackhouse
Are we really freaking out about a 10-2 start that we want Stack? C'mon, guys...I agree with most that we aren't playing our best ball, but the important thing is we're winning while working out the kinks. Lesser teams would be 5-7 right now...we're not...if we do need help down the road I'm sure there are better matches for us in terms of talent and $$ than Stack...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Re: Jerry Stackhouse
If you think Cassell was bad last year, Stack is much much worse.
Horrible, horrible chucker, he's got Antoine complex going on right now. He defends every now and then, but its a rare sight. Mavs fans have been crying for Gerald Green, Shawne Williams, and Antoine Wright to play over Stack all year long....that should tell you something about Stack.

Re: Jerry Stackhouse
Jerry Stackhouse can help us in plenty of ways
Big wing player that can hit big shots and has a nice all around game
Atheletic as hell, so he will help us on the defense
has a nice handle
A second unit of House/PaulRay/Stack/Powe/Baby could start for several NBA teams
TA would have to be odd man out and he is playing very well.
Tough Call
