What do you think Deron would prefer more? 2004 Detroit Pistons or 2006 Seattle Supersonics. I let your reasoning take over.
PS- Brewer is an issue for later. That cluster of Matt/Brewer and Price/Knight would be important. Price nor Knight have never earned big time money like someone like Cassell.
Brewer won't hit us today, but Harpring will likely be wanting something around 4 million dollars, while Brewer will likely be asking for something around 6 million dollars if not even more. This already would mean a +2 million dollar burden added to the Jazz, which has no margin to increase if they sign Boozer to max money.
I am not sure if you have yet detected the fallacy in your statement about Knight or Price for that matter. Bringing the Sam Cassell or PJ Brown clause.

Brevin Knight specially would want to secure his financial future by having one last great check, which he can get if he performs well on a WINNING Team. Obviously he wants to be here, as the Utah Jazz will make him look good. Not once Knight nor Price have matched the same amount of money that PJ Brown or Sam Cassell have earned in a single season for the sake of being in a winning team. I think your assumption is a stretch.
Miami and other places will offer max money, and I think it would be a mistake to give up the depth and the great team we have to become the 2006 Seattle Supersonics.
