Why dont the Suns go after Kaman?

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Thu Nov 20, 2008 3:36 am

They might of already been one of the teams who called about him but if it came down to trading Amare for Kaman and some fillers like another player and/or some draft picks would that be good for the Suns?

I know it may seem like alot by giving up Amare but Kaman plays solid defense and would be a perfect fit for the new look Suns, also with Amare gone Diaw can post up more and possibly average 15 + points a night. I know some of you guys will say Shaq's being paid 20M to come of the bench? but if you look at it like this the Suns would have the best center combo in the league and be able to protect the paint the entire game so when one of them goes out and comes in it would be difficult for other teams to score in the paint.

The Suns lineup could be

C-Kaman
PF-Diaw
SF-Barnes
SG-Bell
PG-Nash

C-Shaq
PF-Lopez/Amundson
SF-Hill
SG-Barbosa
PG-Dragic

If this happened it looks like a good trade but what do you guys think about it?

I would trade Alando Tucker and his bad leg for Kaman and his receding hair line...that is a fair trade.

Of course the Clips would have to give more than just Kaman, maybe something like Chris Kaman + Tim Thomas + 2009 first + 2011 first for Amare.

Here's the thing: Kaman is a true Center, which means he would be completely redundant. Amare fits perfectly next to Shaq, and if we were going to trade Amare to the Clippers, it would take Kaman+Gordon+Thornton, at LEAST.

Ive said plenty of times Maryvalesfinest is a phony and doesnt deserve to be a Suns fan. This is the person that said barbosa should be traded to the knicks in a thread where we were reflecting on Barbosas mothers death. This guy has the worst trade ideas in the world and now he is on my ignore list.

And I thought everyone knew that Amare is the centerpiece of this team...

What a ridiculous trade. You don't trade a franchise player for a 3rd tier center who can give you a good game every two nights. I ain't gonna insult you because you have posted up some nice points quite a few times, but this trade is just silly. I'll explain why unlike the others who just insulting.

Firstly our center position is solid and I would say, above NBA standards. With the trade we're going to be stacked and Fropez ain't gonna get no PT.
Secondly, our PF position gets super weak with Diaw and Lou holding it down.
Lastly, Kaman is a very good center but he's nothing special. Amare is a special player, who could easily be given superstar status like the Kobe's and Lebron's if he played better defense. This trade is probably worse than the Kwame for Gasol trade honestly there's really no fillers or picks that is worth what they get back in Amare.

Anybody else for Kaman, I would definitely look at, but as Suns fans, we should never speak of Amare and Kaman in the same sentence again.

Would a Diaw for Kaman deal be worth a look? I might be ok with that, of course that would leave Hill and Nash as virtually the only playmakers with maybe Barnes doin a bit of it. I think a line up of something like this would be nice

Starters
C- Shaq
PF- Amare
SF- Barnes
SG- Bell
PG- Nash

Bench
C- Lopez
PF- Kaman
SF- Hill
SG- Barbosa
PG- Dragic (Singletary needs more PT IMO)

Maybe could be worth a look. I don't know if the numbers work or not. Or even if Diaw is the type of player the Clipps are looking for. Just a thought

^^I think we need to stop including Diaw in trades, b/c regardless of his production, NOBODY wants his contract.

^ Yeah. Again we lose a lot of depth if we trade Diaw and we get stacked at the C where Fropez loses important development minutes and I doubt Kaman will play his best with a secondary role.
