Despite having a set rotation of Carlos Zambrano, Jason Marquis, Rich Harden, Ryan Dempster and Ted Lilly the Chicago Cubs are still trying to acquire Jake Peavy. If they pull in Peavy perhaps the Yanks could swoop in and pry Lilly off the Cubs hands. He's not a sexy choice but he's a lefty, durable has had success in the AL and would cost less in terms of price and prospects to acquire. He's the guy we should have signed when we threw all that money away on Carl Pavano and Jaret Wright.

id take lilly as our back of the rotation guy. however, the cubs will move Marquis instead. Dollar to quality value, they have to keep lilly over marquis.
