Suns adjustment: rotation

Post#1 » by nashill » Fri Nov 21, 2008 6:38 am

this thread is about finding the right combination of players.

1st five

nash
bell
barnes
amare
shaq

+ pretty solid 1st five but its the 2nd unit that is always hurting the suns.
+ shaq and hill should be leading the 2nd unit instead of amare and hill combination
+ never play bell with dragic and singletery as point guards, too many turn overs there. that means, play bell only when nash is there. bell cant dribble the ball and wont be able to help to lessen the pressure off the rookie pg's.
+ second unit will play a half court setup with shaq as the focal point.

I hate to say this but the Suns are stuck in the middle until they make some drastic changes, they made steps by hiring Terry Porter and trading for Shaq but what I mean is the Suns star players, Nash and Amare along with Barbosa arn't half court players and have trouble playing that game. Nash is at his best when he's running, Amare is at his best when he recieves those pick and rolls from Nash and Barbosa likes running. I hope the Suns can work something out but maybe it's time the Suns trade there superstars from players that can play solid defense in a half court system.

Couldn't make it easier and just make one thread called "Suns Adjustments" ?

MaryvalesFinest is right. Porter's philosophy is a positive thing for our team, but his way of showing it in his system is terrible. But as far as our future goes, Amare is still our guy once Nash expires.

I think its about time to raise the flag on Dragic and Singletary. Send this two to Iowa for more exposure and hone their game. Reinstate Barbosa to back-up PG position and get Tucker some playing time in 2 position.

Nash (32) / Barbosa (16)
Bell (32) / Barbosa (8) / Tucker (8)
Barnes (28) / Hill (20)
Stoudamire (26) / Diaw (22)
Shaq (28) / Stoudamire (10) / Lopez (8)

That rotation looks better that what we have currently. Barbosa and Tucker have more toughness in nailing three point shots than Drajic and Singletary.

I'm just hoping when Tucker returns we will have that all-around scoring machine that can give the 2nd unit a lift.
