In general, I think a lot of Celtics fans respect Detroit and how good they still are. But, they need McDyess back more than Boston could use him.
How many times has an Iverson lead team gone to a conference finals? Once. On the other hand, the Pistons this season represent the most talented roster Iverson has been a part of.

McDyess with his agent are playing interesting games, even Bobcats in the choice list now
I dont get it, what does he want? Money? Then why dump 9 mln. and then Cavs biggest offer? If he want a ring, then its Celtics or maybe Lakers, while Pistons and Cavs have lower chance IMO, not even speaking of his other teams on the list

Who would win one-on-one in HORSE?
Bird: Nobody beats me in H-O-R-S-E. Besides, Magic cant shoot.
Magic: Larry, you'd have no chance against me one-on-one. I've got too many ways to beat you. Plus, as slow as I am, I'm still faster than you.

I think it's just posturing by him and his agent to make it seem like he's considering other teams and that there wasn't an agreement prior to the trade that he would return to Detroit. If money was an important factor in his decision, then why did he give up so much of it to leave Denver? It's not like Denver is some sucky team, with Billups and him staying, they could have made some noise in the playoffs IMO (they're 6-1 with Billups).
This is exactly what I was thinking when I heard it.
He'll go back to DET and finish his career ringless on a bad team...and that's fine, it's his choice...
Pistons fan lookin in on the celtic page, but what the hell is this supposed to mean? im not instigating, im justsaying, that statement is a complete joke...the celtics may be better than the pistons on some nights, but the pistons are better than them on days too. calling detroit a "bad team" sounds like a joke...and when we do get dyess back, i cannot wait until the conference finals when we see you guys. whoever comes out of the east is gonna win the championship, and i would looove to see the pistons win it and then i wouldnt mind coming back and diggin this thread from the grave to point it out to this guy....but you guys have jsut as good, or a better chance at champs, so i guess i cant say much. no hate to celt's fans, i just didnt like this guys post.....at all...
Well maybe "bad team" was too harsh, but mediocre...that better? They got rolled by 20 TWICE by the C's and will not get past CLE in the playoffs, I predict...and the Iverson trade was just a future salary dump, except none of those big free-agents are gonna go to Detroit when they can go to NY or LA or Miami or somewhere else...so I see the Pistons as being a pretender in the East, not a contender. Not trying to start anything, that's my prediction. Hey, what did you expect coming onto the Celtics board??

It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Nothing of substance to add. I just couldn't pass up the chance post this picture and since I think this is the last McDyess pot of the season, here it is:

At least Ainge had sense enough to just move on. He'd revealed on WEEI that he spoke with McDyess' agent and without saying in so may words that he never got the impression in conversation that Boston had any serious chance with his client.
In other words, McDyess' agent is: Lying and laughing. You don't have to hit Ainge in the head to see that someone's being disingenuous here.
The overwhelming consensus in NBA front-office circles remains that McDyess will be back with the Pistons on Dec. 7, which is the first day they're eligible to re-sign the 34-year-old after his buyout from the Denver Nuggets, but sources say that two teams are being told by the Dice Camp that they still have a shot to sway McDyess away from his beloved Motown. That would be Cleveland and Charlotte. The Cavs, depending on how much luxury tax they're willing to pay, have enough of their mid-level exception available to offer a multi-year deal starting at $5.1 million. That would help McDyess recoup some of the $9 million he gave back to the Nuggets in his buyout for the right to pick his next employer, although it's debatable how much McDyess would boost Cleveland's title chances beyond weakening the Cavs' foremost Central Division rival. ESPN.com
The Bobcats, meanwhile, typically don't get a sniff when it comes to coveted free agents, but Charlotte has the full $5.6 million available to throw at McDyess after its exception went untouched in the offseason … as well as the lure of Larry Brown. There was no sarcasm intended in that last bit; McDyess' deep fondness for Brown from their time together in the Detroit has resulted in a very rare sliver of hope for the Bobs. ESPN.com
Yet it must be noted that more than one team exec out there has wondered aloud whether McDyess' apparent consideration of his non-Pistons options is merely intended to convince the league office that his return to Detroit wasn't a done deal even before the Denver trade was completed. We haven't heard a word from McDyess throughout this process, which should come as little surprise after Dallas' Jerry Stackhouse publicly acknowledged his intent to re-sign with the Mavericks before the Mavs' initial deal with New Jersey for Jason Kidd in February was completed. The Mavs and Nets were ordered to remove Stackhouse from the trade before it could go through. ESPN.com
