Yah, the asterisk gives it a really bad taste.

At least they also put an asterisk on the CP one mentioning Deron. Sure, it would be nice to see a cover with just Deron and no mention of CP, but I don't think that will EVER happen. I like it, and I like that they have at least put them on a level field.

Once Williams starts winning rings (and he will), those stupid asterisks and mentions of CP3 will disappear.

Williams is a stud. He is my mancrush.

You people will hate what I have to say... I know you will.... probably you will hate me personally... Deron Williams is an exceptional player, a though one, a wonderfull one... he certainly can take a game on his own shoulders here and there.... but he's not an All Star... at least not yet.... and nothing seems to point out that he will be this season either...
About that Paul buddy... he's a different player now... he's go a long way from his rookie year... he's phenomenal right now... and he plays now much more inder control and into a constant comfot zone... much more than the Williams I saw by the end of last season....
Funny thing: I used to think exactly backwards on this issue back in their rookie season... back then I thought Williams will be the one playing with much more ease...
Ok... I wrote it finnally.... now bring the holy water and the exorcist...

I thought I was upset when I had to wake up 7 am to go to work on a Saturday but this makes me want to vandalize local business with dead puppies. I can begrudgingly accept the Paul is greater than or equal to talk but to say Deron Williams is not an all star caliber player is unacceptable.

Outerspace, I simply disagree with you. Show me another PG that averages a double-double who ISNT an All-Star, and then you'll see what the definition of all-star caliber at that position is.

I really don't think it's a matter of stats... but if you like them you have to admit that he turns the ball over a bit more than desireable, very often in clutch or very important plays.
He has the caliber indeed, that's not even debatable; yet he still has to show more dominance, and still has to stop trying to do too much.
If I have to choose the 2 better western PG, right now, I'd go with Paul and Parker. Williams has clearly surpassed Nash and has started to slowly put Billups in the rear mirror...

I can't argue about Paul and Parker....but saying Deron isn't an All-star caliber point guard is a foolish statement IMO....

Utah's record will play a factor in deciding whether or not Deron Williams gets the nod for the all-star game. They are currently 2nd in the west by virtue of having the best conference record of the 4 teams sitting at 9-5. When Williams comes back and if the Jazz keep winning at home, pick up a few wins on the road and are leading their division; I see no reason why Deron won't be an all-star. Stats wise Deron will have until January 19th to put up the numbers needed to get the vote as well. If he comes back this week he'll have a little under 3 months to get back to playing his game.

Last year in December and the months leading up to the all-star break the Jazz were 16-16 at one point and were behind Portland in the NW division. With Portland leading the division and coming off 13 game winning streak Brandon Roy was the popular pick thus getting the nod over Williams. Not taking anything away from Roy but had the Jazz been better than a struggling .500 club the coaches would have at least voted Deron in.

So this year, we all know Chris Paul will be voted the starter, his stats speak for themselves and he's playing at an incredible level. After that it's Deron, the only exception would be for him to be snubbed over the hometown PG Nash. IMO though, Deron will get to play in his first all-star game in Phoenix.

You are absolutely insane. Insane. When DWill comes back at %100 you will see a crazed man that will be unstoppable. He wants to win more than anyone I have ever seen, including Paul, and I think that is his greatest attribute. NO is starting to self destruct. They have a bad record, they are fighting with each other in practices, and Scott's loose leash is starting to backfire. If it weren't for the 2 OKC games in a row, they were a .500 team. I am not disputing that Paul is an incredible player, he is, but DWill will show that he is on the same playing field when he gets a chance.

Any man saying Deron WIlliams is not an All-Star player right now, does not know the game of basketball. PERIOD.

That's not an insult, it's just factual.

ROFL at Deron being an all-star. Derrick Rose is a few years away from crapping all over anything Deron has done in his entire career.

all stars arent statistical or factual, they're political. unfortunately, i agree with outerspace on this one. i think as long as deron is in the same conferance as nash, kobe, paul, billups, tmac and roy, than deron wont be an allstar.
