i love Granny Smiths

anyway had a weird guy come into the store tonight, he was talking with a friend of his offering him a job, apparently he is going to start a power company, with 6 plants in the US. And when they are all up and running he's going to make $2.3 TRILLION a year.

then he asks if i need a job i told him no (mostly because i didn't believe it) and as he was going he started talking about his business ways, and bribing people and then he snuck in that his great uncle is Donald Trump

then he leaves in his piece of crap car

i should have asked what kind of power company and how in the world with only 6 plants was he planning on making that much money, he even said with the money he'd be making he could buy out the U.S. government

EE, that's a pretty crazy number of Apples. I've tried Apple (had to because my school from grade 4 - 9 had Macs) but I could never get a feel for them.. Guess I'm just a Windows guy, lol. :dontknow:

Yeah, it's a lot. It might actually be more than that. Most of them have been for my work, though. Currently, I have four Macs at home and three at work, two PCs at home and three at work.

I'm a Mac guy, obviously.

Haha nice. I'm only 18 and I've had 4 computers; 2 laptops (HP and now LG) and 2 desktops (Compaq then HP).

The Compaq was the first, back in like '98 I think, lol. Feels so long back, haha. I remember it had barely 5 GB of space, only 3 of which could be used, lol.

Then I got the HP desktop which was good for the time I had it. After that came the HP laptop.

Now, just this past summer I got my LG for university. The HP one was a 17" and would have been hell to carry around, lol. Worked out though, because the desktop crapped out about a month before that so I just gave my sister my old HP laptop instead.

We didn't spend much money on the computers either as we got them refurbished and around boxing day, haha except for this LG one, which had a reasonable price anyway.

On a completely unrelated note, i went to the UNC vs UCSB game.

Easily one of the best bball games i've gone to. The atmosphere there is simply incredible. Only game where i've felt a superior atmosphere was the Lakers/Wolves WCF game where Rush hit like 7 threes. But overall, all other Laker games ive gone to just dont compare, which is sad in a way. The college crowd is simply amazing. Being in teh middle of it all makes for a great experience.

We were actually up on UNC at one point in the 1st half.

Ill say this much though.. Hansborough is a BEAST!

That's awesome, Kno. I got season tickets to the University of Alberta basketball teams up here. Of course, it's not as crazy as the college basketball you gets get down there but it's still some great basketball. I agree with you completely about a college crowd.

erik, arent you pissed about it not having firewire? it is nice that it has the nvidia chip now, but there are tons of photo guys that are pissed that they also dropped matte screens...

im still using a black macbook, 2.0 dual, 2gig of ram...happy with it...

yeah that was probably me...the air is cool, but much like the all electric car is cool, imho, a harbinger of the future for sure, but not really ready for prime heavy use yet...

what i mean by that is , with no cd/dvd drive, and some other computer functions, is still a little too futuristic, and i am an apple geek/fanboy...always have been...

kobeaki, this is just my personal browsing computer. I use it for email, browsing, invoicing, chatting, family photos, etc. So, no, the lack of firewire doesn't bother me at all, yet. My cameras are the only devices I'd plug in and they only have USB anyway.

Plus, If I needed it, I have a couple of eight cores with 16 GB Ram and Terabytes of storage at the studio. I also got the Time Capsule (wireless automatic backup of all Macs in the house). Haven't installed it yet. It'll be great peace of mind to have that up and running.

i hear ya, most muso/a.e. types have the macbooks so they can say, work on their pt le systems, or whatever, and usb, as it is constructed isnt the best i/o for that....

although now with s.a.t.a. drives, like in this here blackbook, which sorta negates firewire...it is just odd that apple would kill their very own technology, i just hope they dont become the new sony i.e., beta, dat, dsd, etc etc.

Well Apple was kinda forced to phase out Firewire due to the following reasons:

Not many devices continue to utilize firewire because of the cost of the chipsets that would go inside of the devices.

Apple has joined the USB 3.0 consortium and is contributing to testing and development

USB 3.0 will draw less power than traditional USB, Firewire 800 and 400

USB 3.0 will carry data transfer rates of 480 MBPS which is 80 MBPS faster than traditional Firewire while drawing 1/2 the power

Nice, good to see you Eck.

I just want my work to let me by my 2 year old G5 which still kicks ass. Apple is sneaking into my wish list after being a tech support guy for a while.
