Because he is a rookie with 8 goals, 11 assists, for 19 points in 18 games. He's on pace for an 86 point rookie season and no one mentions him as a future superstar. He put up 116 points (44 goals) in 56 games for Drummondville in the Q and was a steal at the 6th overall pick in 2006 by Columbus.

He is already better as a rookie than some players mentioned in this thread (Ryan Clowe) and he is definately underrated. By next season, everyone will know his name. All people could talk about this season was Stephen Stamkos.

What does playing a full season have to do anything, how is he Brassard NOT underrated this season?

So far, he is an underrated rookie. No one ever mentioned him for ROY. He's not an underrated player. Let's see what he is like in 3-4 years. He hasn't proved anything yet.

Ryan Clowe is not underrated. He hasn't done anything in the NHL to warrant that label.

Iginla, maybe. He did win the Hart trophy so people do notice how good he is.

Savard would be a really good choice. One of the best passers in the game and no one talks about him.

Agreed, Luke Schen is much more talked about in these parts then all 5 of thoese guys combined. Leafs fans think that Schen+Ian White>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Orr and Gretzky well the media anyways.

I wouldn't call a rookie underratted if you are Mikkel Bødker from Pheonix is playing well and so is Peter Mueller 54 points last year on a horrid Pheonix team is pretty good. Just imagine when Mikkel Bødker, Meller and Kyle Turris all hit their late 20's they will be a force add the possibilty of Tavaras and it's looking good for them

Defiantly Marc Savard is one of the most underrated..He is not only one of the best passers in the league but this season he has picked up his defense so much. He plays the penalty kill for the Bruins and also constantly steps up for big games

No Clowe right now is a better player then Brassard. Brassard might put up more points this season but Clowe is much more effective in every other facet of the game (playing physical, penalty killing, fighting). To be underrated you have to have played more then 50 games in the league to show some sort of consistancy of playing at that level. For all we know Brassard could do nothing the rest of the year and be bad next season also and therefore would not underrated. Maybe he was underrated by some people in projecting who would win the rookie of the year or who would be the best rookie this season, but hes not close to one of the most underrated players mearly due to having no track record of showing hes a good player in this league, sorry 30 or so games doesnt fly.

How the hell was he a steal at #6 in the 2004 draft? Tell me which player that went before him, hes better then? Johnson, Staal, Toews, Backstrom, Kessel are all better players then Brassard and will continue to be. Both Kessel and Staal might not have as many points as Brassard but they also arent there #1 main option at center. Put Staal on Columbus getting PP time with Nash and his stats would look basically the same as Brassard only Staal is a better defensive player and much more of a physical presence.

You make it sound like you have to put up superstar #s or close to a point per game in the league to be considered underrated. He had a very good 2006 season and solid playoffs. He started off last year very well before getting injured and when he came back had a awesome playoffs. Now hes off to a great start to this season and is playing like one of the best power forwards in the Western conference. Clowe is definitely underrated, if he was playing in the East or on a major market team youd be hearing him talked about like Milan Lucic is, seeing the are very similar players.

Clowe is definitely underrated.

Kopitar is shaping up as the classic 'signed the contract, wait till its expiring years till you see me produce again' player. The Kings made a big mistake letting Cammo walk

How is Anze Kopitar bad he has 56 goals 98 assists and 154 points in 174 career games with a horrid Kings team. 16 points in 20 games isn't that bad plus he's 21 years old as well. Put him on Pittsburgh, Detroit, San Jose or Boston and his numbers would be right up there with the league leaders.

Eric Staal is another guy that comes to mind. Nobody talks about him but he's among the best power fowards in hockey. Does it all hits, fights, sets up goals, scores with his forehand and backhand and is a guy who plays both ends of the rink.

Staal is a great one. Kinda stopped hearing about him. . although i expect once the fourth brother is playing, we will hear a lot of the Staal brothers.

As for Kopitar, i am not saying he is a bad player, I just find it hard to say a guy who makes 7 mill a year on a team that has accomplished nothing is underrated

Anze is making less then 1 million this season. Next year he is making $6.8 million and thats what he will make for the next 4 years. The Kings have nobody who can step up and help Kopitar is what I am trying to say. There next big name is Frolov or Hundzus and they are so-so

Well I don't watch a lot of Kings games or see much of their highlights. I heard that O'Sullivan is good but haven't seen him. Kinda got confused with Sean O'Donnell and was like what the hell is Griff83 talking about? O'Donell is washed up and crap. Always been a stay at home defenseman who has very little offensive talent if any. Dustin Brown yes I will give you that, Sorry forgot him as well.
