Well you know most of the stories involve Al, I guess the guys want to let him know how they feel

For starters, they say KG has a big time problem with Al for o good reason.

Anyway the celtics ahad a team meeting this year, where the captai stood up and asked the question" If you could pick one guy in the NBA to make a game winning shot, who would you pick. Everyone in the room except KG said none other than BIG AL Jefferson. Can you imagine the look on KG['s face when the team said that.

Now to KG's credit he asked DOC to guard Al one on one the whole game. Doc's reply (in so many wordswith a big smile on his face) no, no we have to double and triple him and make someone else beat us. Lets not give him a chance to get going. Im shocked the head coach would tell a dpy and the sole reason for the celtics turnaround lol omethig like that.

I have heard alot of stories like these. Alot of the celtics feel like they could have got i done with Al last year and they see KG for what he is and are getting tired of it. A Superstar Role Player. Whats the Celtics record without Garnett?

Out of curiosity, how credible are these stories i.e. what is their source (i.e. players themselves, Al, or just hearsay)? Could the team be joking with KG, either in good fun or to motivate him?

I find this (players thinking we could have done it all with Al versus KG) a little hard to believe solely since the team couldn't have attracted FAs/etcetera without the trade. And even aside from that, we might or might not (it would have depended partially on Al's ability to fit into our defense better than he fit into Minny's defense last year) have been able to do it with Al last year, but it certainly wouldn't have been so easy by any means. There are good defenders and then there is KG. And statistically there was no player more important to our team than KG. Its not a knock on Al, but I'd find it a little disappointing to find out that C's players dislike the KG trade at this point, and while I completely trust you I understand you may be a little biased.

KG's beef with Al....does it root back to the "one thing in common" comment or does it root back beyond that?

Thanks Kingly, good to have you around.

i think "who do you want taking the game winning shot" and "who do you think will win the team the most games" are two very different questions. obviously Al is a gifted post scorer, so is a good option for taking a last shot, probably better than KG. but overall, KG's game is so much more complete that it's really no contest who you'd want on your team.

i agree, last year's team with Al doesn't win 50 games.

No need to bash Big Al here. He's a very good player stuck in a crappy situation in Minny. He's got his issues on D, but his interior offense is as good as any big in the league. I'm glad we got KG in the deal, but 'Sota could have done a lot worse than Big Al. He is someone they can build a team around, but maybe not someone who can make the team alone, like Lebron.

agreed. he's a nice piece, he just needs some help. Al isn't the problem in Minny.

kingly222 wrote: Then when asked if there was any trash talking going on he said KG didnt say a word to him, and if he had, he would have hit him b/c of how he was feeling. How you were feeling?? " YEA I HAVE A DEEP THIGH BRUISE" ..(happened in the PHILLY Game) Well it makes sense why it you had no lift and werent moving so well. But Al beig Al neve considered this an excuse and gave all the credit to Boston's defense

Congrats on the win and I heard some funny stories coming out of the Boston Camp. If anyone wants to know just ask and Ill post

Wow, I had no idea. And he actually played with a thigh bruise? If figured a stint on the DL for a thigh bruise. I mean, if an ankle sprain knocks you out of commision for a year and a half.

And I am sure he would have punched KG if he talked trash.... and I am sure KG was scared..... Leon Powe too. He really looked hesitant going up for all those uncontested layups.

You must be right about the Celtics and Garnett. The way Paul Pierce couldn't stop smiling all season..... you could just tell it was fake. He was so unhappy playing with the former MVP .... it showed. And now you can see the misery. Sure..... they are gelling and blowing teams out by 20.... but they know deep down Al could have done it too........

I truly am laughing out loud at this garbage!
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I think we lost that other piece to the duo puzzle when we traded Mayo away. The criticism is fair but I think if we can get him some serious help hes only going to improve.

I thought drafting Mayo was the way to go. Al and Kevin are both PF.

Return to Boston Celtics
