C's should activate Cassell

Post#1 » by cfan79 » Mon Nov 24, 2008 5:58 pm

I don't like the way Eddie defends or handles the ball. We should make him a 3rd string guard for a while and see what old Sammy can do. Plus Tony has been playing so well offensively I don't think we need House to play that much.

Eddie has been shooting great and really opens up the spacing when he's on the floor...Sam is a chucker...I hope never to see him playing for the C's again...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

It isn't going to happen Sam is on the PJ plan at this point. I think it was Donny who was talking about it the other night he will not dress the first half of the year. Sam's performance has fallen off cliff the last two years in the second half especially after the All Star break. He probably only has 40-50 games in that body if that and he has been peaking in that 3rd month of the season. They aren't going to use those up in the fall. If he is going to do anything for this team he will do it down the stretch and in the playoffs.

I heard that Sam has been playing really well in practice and 1 on 1 games. I think we're waiting until it's time to activate him. Get him a masseuse to deal with his back problems and then by the time the end of the season swings around, maybe we'll have the play of a 28 year old Cassell coming off the bench.

gee, didn't we hear this argument before? like, say, in the playoffs last year? and it almost cost us a championship because cassell sucked donkey balls.

I think people make too much of Cassell's shot selection. The guy is a 3 time champion who knows what he's doing.

The thing about House is that sometimes he's really on and sometimes he really isn't. Cassell seems more consistent.

I guess I just miss the ball dance that he did in the Atlanta game last season. You know the one from the movie "Major League".

Well he actually contributed on his other championships but my god he did more to hurt us than help us last year. All he did last year was come up with the ball and force a terrible shot without working the clock or get his teammates involved.

Unless there's an injury, stay on the bench Golem!

That dance was better then the Walker wiggle and Walkers frankenstein walk combined.

I agree with those who pointed out that the Celtics are trying to conserve Sam for the stretch run and playoffs. If Sam is healthy and rested, knows the system, and accepts his role I think that it would do wonders for this team. He would make all the players better on the second unit, especially TA and Powe. I'm not counting on Sam to be the man but I definitely feel like he's capable of playing a nice role during the stretch run.

Sam has been practicing with the team all year, if they need to use him he'll be far more prepared than last year.

I don't at all disagree about Houses' deficiencies, but I'm more than comfortable that Pruitt is getting some development time at this point. Things are working fine enough, Sam can be worked into the lineup the last 25-30 games of the season. At some point, probably next year, we'll be looking for Pruitt to fill in, and the development he's getting now is a good investment.

Sam will start getting minutes after the AS break. I am curious to see if he can be useful this year. But Eddie is our backup PG, there shouldn`t be any dilemma about that. His shooting is irreplaceable.

Exactly. I agree, unless it's a dire situation, I just want him to be an assistant coach at this point!

WTF? Cassell? Do you people have eyes? Didn't you see how bad Cassell was last year? Yes, ET is a 3 time champ, but he didn't help us get there. We won the championship in spite of him.

Please no more of this Cassell talk. I'm about to vomit.

I'm with you on Eddie, he's been a real asset lately like you said...but Sam definetly can help the Celtics, he's a great scorer and can handle the ball well, we might need him if Rondo or Eddie starts struggling or get injured, I'm really glad we got this cat on our team.

oh i just rmemberd, LOOK AT WHAT SAM I AM'S WORK WITH "SCAALAABRIIINEE!!"' HAS DONE FOR HIS GAME !!!

ridiculous, this bum is 6 for 8 from behind the line or somesht, jesus h man Sam must be a genius as a coach.

Sam Cassell will only be activated if there is a PG injury, otherwise we should see him in the 2nd half of the season.

I wonder how Doc will play Sam ... I mean Eddie and Rondo are the two options at PG, but will Sam get the nod over House?

What happens if Doc wants or needs to activate Sam and then the Celtics want to sign PJ Brown? Who gets cut?
