If I were Donnie Nelson

Post#1 » by Blind0188 » Tue Nov 25, 2008 1:09 pm

For a day, the day would be December 15th 2008, the time... about 6:00 a.m.
the date is obvious, but you're probably wondering about the time... well if I had to be Donnie Nelson I would need time to do a few things first...
1. wake up (necessary)
2. put on some house shoes (it's cold in the house...)
3. Look in the mirror and punch myself in the face a few times for all of my stupid mistakes over the years, observe my bald spot.
4. Have Breakfast.(That's important)
5. Shower, brush teeth..(maybe not in that order, I'd likely brush my teeth in the shower.)
6. Get to work.

Donnie loves 3 way and 4 way trades, he loves them so much that he even uses it in his everyday life outside of being a GM. so of course I'd go for a 4 team trade. and give us a real shot of going all the way this season, or at the very least get rid of a few people, because I can.

A 4 team trade between the Clippers, Knicks, Charlotte and Dallas

Mavericks send out:
Desagana Diop $5,585,000 4 yrs
Erick Dampier $11,553,000 3 yrs
Brandon Bass $826,269 1 yr
Antoine Wright $1,800,000 2 yrs
Devean George $1,600,000 1 yr
Jerry Stackhouse $7,000,000 2 yrs
& Shan Foster's rights

Mavericks bring in: Depth Chart:
Gerald Wallace $9,500,000 4 yrs PG: Kidd/Robinson/JJB
Alexis Ajinca $1,276,320 2 yrs SG: Howard/Jet/
Chris Kaman $9,500,000 4 yrs SF: Wallace/Green/Singleton
Nate Robinson $2,020,179 1 yr PF: Dirk/Lee/Williams
David Lee $1,788,033 1 yr C: Kaman/Ajinca/Jeffries
Jared Jeffries $6,049,400 3 yrs

Depth Chart:
PG: Kidd/Robinson/JJB
SG: Howard/Jet/
SF: Wallace/Green/Singleton
PF: Dirk/Lee/Williams
C: Kaman/Ajinca/Jeffries

Reasons: 1.Brandon Bass isn't fitting well with Rick Carlisle's system, he was an Avery Johnson kind of player, because of the way that Avery ran his offense.
2.We'd be getting Gerald Wallace, Chris Kaman, David Lee and Nate Robinson without losing any of our key guys ( Dirk, Kidd, Howard, Jet, Green)
3. We'd finally be free from Devean George, Erick Dampier and Jerry Stackhouse, I like Stack and Damp has been playing decently lately, but how long will that last? we'll make the playoffs and he'll go back to his normal brick handed, foul magnet self.
4. Bass could come back next season as a FA

Cons: We lose Brandon Bass, Wright and Diop, We'd flirt with the salary cap limit, We'd lose Shan Foster.... I'm stumped for more cons.

I think you need to clarify where the mavs players are going under this proposed trade.

So mavs turn Dampier into Kaman, Diop into Lee, Wright into Robinson, and the other collection of bench warmers (stack, george & foster) into Wallace and all it costs us is Bass and taking Jeffries?

Where do I sign?

nice intro to the trade proposal.
trade itself may not be appreciated by the other teams though..
btw, where do our players go?

Nice dream. We give up all our dead weight and get 4+ contributors? Mavs will be lucky if they can trade even one of those players for anyone of value.

Sorry about that guys, I thought I posted the whole thing, I guess I only copied have of it.

Desagana, Wright, George for Gerald Wallace and Alexis Aijinca
Brandon Bass, Erick Dampier, Shan Foster for Chris Kaman
Jerry Stackhouse for Nate Robinson, David Lee and Jared Jeffries

It's a stretch but maybe we can throw in some mangos or blueberries or something to make these deals more attractive?

ZOMG LMAO at the introduction!

As far as the trade goes, I will build a large statue of Donnie Nelson if he pulls a trade anything close to this

Return to Dallas Mavericks
