Heilman: Start Me Or Trade Me
20th November, 2008 - 11:19 am
New York Daily News - Aaron Heilman wants to be traded if he's not made a starter this offseason.

"The object the entire time has never been to get out of New York," Heilman's agent Mark Rodgers told the Daily News. "The object is to get out of the bullpen. The most success he's ever had as a pitcher has been as a starting pitcher. He was drafted by the Mets as a starting pitcher."

A source with knowledge of the Mets' internal discussions suggested there's an organizational split about Heilman - with chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon wanting him to remain and other key front-office personnel favoring a trade. [READ]

Start me or Trade me. Well I think after last season the Mets dont want him anywhere near a starting rotation. Heilman probably still has some value around the league, we should be able to get a young arm in return.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.

Today, on his blog for the New York Post, Joel Sherman reports the Mets made such an offer in the days after Street was acquired by the Rockies, who then asked for Pedro Feliciano in addition to Heilman, which the Mets ultimately turned down

WHY IN GODS NAME WOULD THE METS TURN THAT DOWN?! JESUS H CHRIST ****

According to Dan Graziano of the Newark Star-Ledger, the Cubs offered Jason Marquis and salary relief to the Mets for reliever Aaron Heilman. The Mets declined. It's been suggested the Cubs are willing to eat as much as $4MM of Marquis' $9.875MM.

Graziano seems to believe the Mets are targeting a Marquis-like free agent starter, Jon Garland.

WHY IN GODS NAME DOES OMAR REFUSE TO TRADE THIS **** BUM?>! FIRST WE COULD HAVE UPGRADED THE BULLPEN BY GETTING RID OF HIM FOR STREET AND NOW TO UPGRADE THE ROTATION BY GETTING MARQUIS?! im going to have a stroke if i see another trade involving heilman was rejected

GET RID OF HIM PLEASE
