Bill Simmons proves his stupidity once again.

In an article that's currently featured on the NBA page on ESPN, he has this to say:

9. Is there a dumber argument in sports than "Chris Paul or Deron Williams"?

I argued before the season, passionately, that Paul was in a different league and earned myself a few death threats from the Salt Lake City area. (You stay classy, Utah.) Check out their 2009 stats through four weeks:

• Paul: 20.5 PPG, 12.2 APG, 2.9 steals, 52.3% FG, 85.6% FT.
• Williams: 7.5 PPG, 8.0 APG, 0.0 steals, 26.7% FG, 66.7% FT.

I mean, that's a landslide! Come on! Can we all agree to stop arguing about this?

Not dumb, just doing it to piss off the people who sent him those e-mails. He'll eat crow once we meet in the playoffs. Hopefully we go on to defeat the Celtics in the NBA finals.

CP3's team blew a 2-0 lead and lost game 7 at home while we came back from 0-2 and won game 7 on the road. Haha.

He is just doing this to anger Utah fans at this point. He knows those stats are based on 2 games that Deron played returning early from a severe sprain on a bum ankle. He thinks its funny.

I love BS. His podcast is the best podcast in the world probably next to the Ricky Gervais podcast.

In my eyes, that makes him stupid. Why is he continuing this battle with Jazz fans? It's immature, and to be frank, stupid, especially when you consider the classless comments he made about the Mormon religion in his blog.

Kind of unprofessional, although I don't follow him very much, only know that he's a Boston homer. He works for ESPN though, so he's kinda forced to say that CP3 is better. Can't wait to play the Hornets this year, and we only have one in NO, so let's win that and sweep those mf's.

Simmons is clearly worthless and doesn't have the faintest clue what he's talking about when addressing sports of any variety. But yeah, this is just to annoy people.

Thats not true. If you listen to his podcast or read his writing consistently you will find that he is extremely observant and thoughtful when it comes to sports. He truly is just enjoying his ongoing feud with Jazz fans, and is in love with Chris Paul. If you read the rest of that column you would know that he gives the Jazz major props this year and talks at length about the Hornets struggles.

That being said I dont know how someone could have watched the Olympics and thought "you know these two guys are just not even comparable." I thought Deron was more consistently effective than CP3. So much so that they put Deron out there as a two guard in front of a natural, dead eye 2 guard in Michael Redd.

Bill Simmons has some pretty funny articles. He's more of a humorist than a sports writer some of you need to chill the **** out. It's Thanksgiving, your panties should be as loose or looser than your pants.

This has to be a joke, right? Given that it is very easy to buy into the hype of CP3, the league has a major man crush on him, so I'm not surprised that there is clearly a larger CP camp then DW. But really, it must be a complete joke that he is using stats from this season. I really hope he isn't so moronic to actually use those stats with any real argument.

i almost dont care anymore. i think most jazz fans know that Paul is probably a better individual player but Deron and the Jazz absolutely crush them. In the end, all i care about is --

Utah Jazz >>>>> New Orleans Hornets

Deron was made for the Jazz, and i couldn't be happier having him. I can't wait to see Deron crush Paul this season. I would sell both my kidneys to see the Jazz hold Paul to another 6pts 6ast games.

Some of the things Simmon says piss me off, but he's really funny and you just have to realize that he's a fan whose opinions about the game aren't always objective and are often flawed. He clearly is a huge fan of Chris Paul and this skews his opinion in the Paul-Williams debate. Paul is an incredible player, but when you get down to analyzing it from a basketball standpoint, as opposed to just looking at stats or being dazzled by Paul's speed and quickness and circus style of play, the fact is, there's not much seperation between the two.

So let's look at tonight's games going by Bill's way of comparing players just for fun. Deron tonight had 13 points, 15 assists, 3 turnovers in 27 minutes. Chris had 16 points, 6 assists, 5 turnovers in 38 minutes. So Deron is In a different league than Chris so let's just end the debate already. lol!

Probably because Jazz fans are some of the most overly-defensive and paranoid sports fans on the face of the planet and they need some toughening up. There's Jazz fans out there who think that the vast majority of people actually have an anti-Utah bias. That's like having an anti-Milwaukee or anti-Kansas City bias; no one cares enough to hate them aside from serious rivals. But try convincing them that.

I don't think that there is an anti SLC or anti Utah bias but there is an anti mormon one.
