Gerald Green deserves way more playing time

Post#1 » by GREEN8 » Sat Nov 29, 2008 9:30 pm

Games with 15+ minutes: 12.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg on 54.8% shooting. If Gerald Green get more than 15 minutes a game, he will produce efficiently. So why is he playing 8 minutes to start the game and then not playing at all? I know they're are taking it step by step but this is not what's best for Gerald.

Gerald needs playing time to develop his game. The more experience Gerald gets in the beginning of the season the better off he is gonna be down the road. His preseason was phenomenal, so why is Wright/Singleton getting more minutes than him as a starter when GG clearly outplayed them this season. People say it's his defense but then you have to look at the Mavs as a whole. The Mavs aren't a very good defensive team themselves this season. In my opinion, this would be the best possible rotation.

Kidd 32 mpg/Barea 12 mpg
Green 24 mpg/Terry 32 mpg
Howard 34 mpg/Singleton or Wright 10 mpg
Nowitzki 38 mpg/Bass 19 mpg
Dampier/29 mpg/Diop 10 mpg

Agree? Disagree? Let me have it.

disagree, green makes stupid plays at times, like yesterday vs the lakers, that charge he got called and then that stupid turnover, i'd rather have Terry play more...

That charge was a bad call Fisher fell sideways and was set diagonally. They called the charge 4 seconds after he shot the ball. I'm not saying take away Terry's minutes, I just think GG should play a lot more.

The same could be said for Singleton and Williams.

At least Green got to play the other night. I don't recall seeing the other two in the game at all.
They couldn't have been any worse than George.

lol I knew you started this thread before I even opened it... I think GGreen deserves more time though, even though with the way Antoine Wright and Barea played last night, I can understand it

Antoine Wright can becaome the next Caron Butler but he "needs playing time to develop his game. The more experience Gerald gets in the beginning of the season the better off he is gonna be down the road."

Okay, just because I say it don't make it true. Green will get his if he deserves it. There is a reason why he keeps being taken out of games.

PS, yes that was sarcasm, but the point is, you can make that same argument with any of our youth and Wright has earned his minutes.

Green needs to learn some defense the guy is Bernard King reincarnated. Yes he can score but when he puts up 20 and gives up 25 does he need to be on the floor?

how come i knew that GREEN8 was the one who made this thread b4 i even opened it...
lol
he a great talent by far
his fundamentals on defense are terrible, when he forces the guy hes guard baseline he let him go baseline without any interferrence
remember in the nba you cant clog the middle it aint high school or college
and it seems like hes actually very nervous at time he gave the ball up to jkidd in the SAC game
he doesnt know how to take someone off the dribble without getting called for a charge
and i dont think he understands that DAMP has brick hands so giving him the ball in the open court is horrible and pathetic idea
hes young but a great example of a guy who should have gone to college for at least one year...maybe more
he is still very immature man i mean when i look at him im like dang this dude is my ageeeeeeee and wowwwwww...HE LOOKS LIKE A BABYYYYYYYYYYY
lol
jk
but he needs time i think he needs to get in the weight room definitley cause when i see him blow by ppl they hand check him to slow him down and the refs never call the fouls anymore on hand checks
hes got to put 10-15 more pounds on as well
hes freagin 6'8 195-200lbs
GET BIGGER FOOO

Gerald Green will get more time as he earns it. Coach has been giving him a chance at least. Our past two coaches, Avery and Nellie, would not have even given him a chance to earn minutes like Carlisle is.
