What happened to Amare?

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Thu Nov 27, 2008 6:59 am

What does everyone think of Amare's play as of late? It seems the last good game he had was probally his best game of his career @ Indiana earlier in the season but lately he seems to be putting up sub-par numbers.

It seems he hasn't had a 25 + point game in ages and his rebounding has went way down under Porter. He only got 3 rebounds tonight vs the Timberwolves. Last season after the Shaq trade he was averaging close to 30-10 and now it seems like he took a step back. Before this season he was talking about becoming a serious defender and even trying to win the MVP. What does everyone think happened? Did he stop trying? Does it have to do with his knees? etc.

Terry Porter's system is holding Amare back. He needs to go back to playing run-and-gun. And I think he will sign with the Knicks once his contract expires.
that dunk was sick!

I think he goes to MIA if he doesn't re-sign with us...

Wade/Amare/Beasley would be NICE

Beasley's natural position is the same as Amare ain't it? Even though he's a little undersized to play the 4. Knicks have better players to sign than Amare.

Beasley's scoring spots are all farther from the basket, though, he likes to iso, he likes long jumpers, he could work alongside Amare just fine. An Amare/Wade pick-and-roll would SUCK for the rest of the league.

amare is holding back his own self. he could have scored 16 points and 15 rebounds last game..that is still a beast performance...but he preferred not to. i pity this guy.. bosh and howard have surpassed amare in terms of overall skills, fans respect and popularity...

I have been concerned about his rebounding and defense lately, I thought he said he was trying to become a better defender?
One thing I have noticed is that he is in foul trouble much less which is a good thing.

His defense sucks just as usual. He bites on EVERY fake...ridicolous...

Regarding the O i'm not too concerned...he's just out of synch. He'll score like last year for sure when is all said and done.

Would you rather have Amare score 30+ and lose a game or the whole starting 5 doing well and win a game? You guys have to realize it's better seeing the whole team contribute, rather than just STAT. It sucks that Amare's numbers are down, but the team is winning games so it's not a big deal.

And he "preferred" to let midget Sean Singletary outrebound him.

Amare is getting exposed. I want to see him back up his trash talk about a Ron Artest type of player. I dont care if we are run-n-gun or half court, there is no viable reason that he isnt rebounding the ball. I mean 3? there is no excuse!.

Sean has been grabbing more rebounds than assists which surprises me since hes only 6 feet tall. That guy seems to be a good rebounder for his size.

I am usually an Amar'e supporter, but this is absolutely right. He should be the leading rebounder every night. His confidence seems to be a an all time low right now though

Derrick Rose won't be traded for anyone in this league not named Chris Paul,Dwight Howard & LeBron.

Amare is terrible at defense because mentally Amare has never and will never completely commit to doing it, especially when his offensive game is lacking. He just mentally drifts away. To make matters worse, he lacks the size to guard a good majority of the better PF's in the game. He's simply too lean. That's not a good combination to have going on.
