Mitch Kupchak Appreciation Thread!!!!
I wanted to revist mitch kupchak and the things that he has done for the lakers. I know we all were very critical of him and somewhat it was well deserved but this guys is turning into a genius.
-Drafting Farmar is looking golden
-Luke was a good pick at that position
-No giving in to Kobe demands was key
-Bynum is/has turned into a stud
-trading cook for ariza....need I say more
- getting Gasol.....are you serious!!!
-the machine is bullseye when he spots up
-Vlade....well Vlade is Vlade....lol
This team has the ability to be something special. Laker fans need to sound off and show some love. This team is set for many years to come

This is my first appreciation thread and I thought it would be right if I gave love to mitch. I hammered him 2-3 years ago....I mean hammered him. Gotta show love when love is due right?

Re: Mitch Kupchak Appreciation Thread!!!!
To be fair, it was more Jimmy Buss who wanted to draft Bynum.
I think Mitch's greatest asset has been his unwillingness to be quick to pull the trigger....which ironically is why we blasted him for so many years. Right now, that's paying off.
Let's just be glad Mitch wasn't allowed access to the internets.

Actually, Ronnie Lester was the biggest person involved in the drafting of Andrew. He saw him while scouting and told the Lakers they should take another look. From there, Jim Buss wanted him.
Mitch wanted Sean May and I think Phil wanted Danny Granger.

Re: Mitch Kupchak Appreciation Thread!!!!
Mitch's best move is his unwillingness to give in to Kobe's demands and trade Odom/Bynum for JO. That would have been a terrible move

I used to ride him also Worthy. I dubbed him as Match Ketchup & Sleep @ the Switch Mitch! But he has turned it all around & yes he deserves just as much credit as grief he used to get

Re: Mitch Kupchak Appreciation Thread!!!!
Mitch has worked hard and under a ton of pressure and in the shadow of jerry west. He made the shaq deal, bought out brian grant. Traded Maurice Evans and Brian cook for Trevor Ariza (what a steal)
- 2 1st round picks, Javaris Crittenton, Kwame Brown and Marc Gasol for Pau Gasol
- Resigning Fish for the MLE, how underrated has that signing been huh?
Nice job Mitch!

Well if we're going to go down the chain, somehow I highly doubt that Ronnie Lester was the first of the Lakers' personnel to watch Bynum play. So then we'd have to go to the scouts.
The point I was making: Mitch didn't push for the Bynum pick, thus we can't give him credit.

Re: Mitch Kupchak Appreciation Thread!!!!
Good job, Mitch. Gotta love the patience of Mitch and Buss.
Through the last few years, there were many talked about bigger deals that he wisely avoided. Bynum for Artest, Odom for Artest, Odom for Harrington, Bynum for Boozer etc. The list goes on. Which means there were a ton of other deals he avoided, too, that we don't know about.
