Trade Proposal - Orl/PHX

Post#1 » by KJ7 » Sat Nov 29, 2008 10:25 pm

I think Orlando could be a good trade partner for us purely because they are so reliant on Bogans and therefore desperately need a SG (Pietrus just got injured as well). I would love to have Anthony Johnson here since we seem incapable of having any kind of leadership at the PG when Nash isn't on the court. I think he's exactly the type of hard-nosed defensive vet we need to put alongside Shaq. He can make an entry-pass and spreads the floor with his shooting. He ticks all the boxes for me.

So here are 2 trades I would put to Orlando hoping they bite:

Trade 1

Bell for AJ + JJ Reddick

Bell would be great for them. Fits the bill perfectly for them. Corner shooter who spreads the floor and plays good D. Not sure how patient they are with JJ Reddick but personally I think with LB moving more to SG we would be able to be more patient with him. A lot to give up for those 2 but at this point I think a vet PG is more important to us then a vet SG (mainly cos we have Hill, Barnes as vets and we would have 2 youngsters in Reddick and Tucker backing them up as well as LB sliding to SG). We just have more players who could fit that position while now we just seem so out of sorts at PG.

Might have to throw them Singletary or Dragic (don't know how much he makes) unless they have a free agent in mind to fit the back-up PG bill.

BTW, if Reddick doesn't work out we just cut him loose. AJ's contract ends in 2010 as well so we can still have a considerable amount of salary cap come 2010 even with this move.

Trade 2

Tucker + Singletary for AJ

Same kind of idea except instead of a ready made vet they get a bit of a project who could work out *really* well for them. Depends how much of a gamble they want to take really. This one gives them a back-up PG to offset AJ and to be honest Singletary's game is pretty similar to Nelson's in a lot of ways so they wouldn't have to adapt in playing style.

What do ye's think?

Both seem like good trades but the Suns probally should and need to do something a bit bigger.

The only big move they need to make is showing Porter the door.

I would definitely bite on the second trade, the first I don't get at all...Bell is basically untradeable for us, such a defensive presence and three point threat, and veteran...I'm a Dukie so JJ all the way but why give up Bell for a backup PG and a backup SG who to date has only proven that he is too nervous in the professional arena to drop more than a couple shots a game?

Hmmm...I'd be inclined to ask for Bogans AND Johnson for Bell. Bogans is hurt at the moment, but he's a pro and there's no harm in getting another defensive three point shooter.
That would allow Barbosa to start and play with Nash which is where he's most effective

And yeah. I can't take JJ seriously after those stupid shooting clinic DVDs where they call Redick the "worlds best shooter" or something. Ha. hilarious

getting a real backup pg is a must whoever the coach is. singletery just holds the ball so long. he's prone to TO. dragic looks afraid in the court..

KJ7 with a trade post??? No freakn way! I think this is the first I have seen this done by you bro. at least its not a trade tucker for lebron

Dragic looks pitiful out there. I have no confidence he will turn out or live up to his contract. I like options 3! Oh wait, nevermind. We need a backup, but I don’t know if AJ is the right guy. I also do not think they want to get rid of him. I would like to get Hido on this team.

boy, it seems that we are all down on this team already. I do not have much hope for this franchise going forward with kerr and sarver at the helm.

I prefer the trade Tastic brought up. Bell for Bogans and AJ. I like Bogans' defense and his shooting and he's also younger than Bell. Also unlike Bell, Bogans and AJ have played in much more disciplined systems in the last few seasons whereas Bell kinda had it easy under D'Antoni. As for JJ, never been a fan of his. He plays as much defense as Nash and while he has a nice stroke, he's pretty much useless with everything else.

I know many of you love Bell but the last couple of nights has really shown me that his D is well and truly over-rated and personally I think he's expendable.

Wade lights us up and Hill does a much better job defending him then Bell. And he can neither stop/slow Vince or Harris. I mean what's the point of having him? Has he gone from a great role player to just a 3pt shooter?

^You're right there, that's why it might be best to sell high. He's lost so much lateral quickness that he has to rely on smarts to get by, really obvious now.

You may as well have Korver or Kapono out there

I think ORL might bite with AJ + Bogans...

I concur. Bell's a good defender but over-rated most of the time. i like trade option 1 in this case.
