Surprising win..

The way this team has played this year has surprised the hell out of me. They're making me a believer.Hope we can keep it up.

Man - if the Nets make some noise this season..... It just makes me wonder all the more about last season.

It's games like these that make me proud to say that the Nets are the best worst team in the league

YES YES YES!!!!
Really now all these surprising wins really make you wonder just how much confidence and heart can do in Basketball......
No doubt about it last year's team was capable of acheiving more wins than this one based on talent and experience alone, but I guess Kiddy just never really believed in this team's ability to win.....
Oh well what's done is done all hail the Devin Harris era!

Ok guys time to give credit where credit is due, Franky a.k.a Opie a.k.a Nets fans public enemy #1 is doing an excellent job this year:
1)He introduced a system that is working remarkebley well for us
2)Got Devin Harris out of his shell with excellent results (from 16ppg to the 7th best scorer in the league)
3)He rejuvinated Vince this season (either that or it was just a healthy ankle that did the job).
4)Has done an excellent job so far developing Lopez,Ryan Anderson and (for the most part) YI
5)Got a team that was projected to be the worst/2nd worst in the East to a respectable seed and to believe in themselves.

Just a shame he decided to be this good AFTER we gave up on contending.

He is a monster and possibly can be better than Deron down the road, although, he needs to improve his shooting.

That and a team without a dominating low post presence or an uber-star. I wouldn't put too much on the Devin vs Deron argument just yet as Deron has been recuperating from a preseason ankle sprain. I'll still say though that Devin has been a monster for us this season, much better than last season and the first few games this season.

Yeah, but let's examine those two teams.

Last Season:

Kidd
Curly (still recuperating from the ACL tear)
VC (ankle injury)
RJ
Boki
Twin
Jamaal Magloire
Boone
SWAT (Who hit the rookie wall a week or two before the break)
Wright (Our version, not Dallas's)
Malik Allen
Marcus

Now let's take a look at this season:

Harris
VC
Simmons
Yi
Brook
Ryan
Hayes
Dooling
Boone
Najera
CDR
Swift
Hassell

Sure, last year's team was supposed to reach places, but with everyone either injured, getting back from one, or simply sucked, this team was headed nowhere fast. The team was 23-29 when we traded him. We weren't getting a ring and Kidd wanted one so he demanded a trade. It happens all the time. We're just lucky to get great return value for him.

Oh well what's done is done all hail the Devin Harris era!

I'm with you here.

Ok guys time to give credit where credit is due, Franky a.k.a Opie a.k.a Nets fans public enemy #1 is doing an excellent job this year:

What is the system? I think once again the players seem to bail him out in the most critical of situations.

2)Got Devin Harris out of his shell with excellent results (from 16ppg to the 7th best scorer in the league)

It was expected of Harris. It was all in him that he wasn't doing well and it was all him that he's doing fine now. I don't think Frank had much help in that.

3)He rejuvinated Vince this season (either that or it was just a healthy ankle that did the job).

I think it's a combination of his ankle and not having to spread the ball with a similar player in RJ.

4)Has done an excellent job so far developing Lopez,Ryan Anderson and (for the most part) YI

I'll give you this. He is playing them. Let's just hope he doesn't give up on CDR when he's ready to return.

5)Got a team that was projected to be the worst/2nd worst in the East to a respectable seed and to believe in themselves.

Well, I said before the season that if we sucked, people would just say Frank is doing what he can with what's been given to him. If he did well, people would say he's performing above expectations.

I will give him credit for yesterday. He took advantage of Deron's lack of speed with Harris and attacking the post with Boozer (and later AK) out.

kinda felt bad for Deron there. Still recovering from left ankle injury and he's left on an island against Devin. Really slow help rotation from the Jazz - they should have just gone into zone or even doubled him up to the 3pt line to take the ball out of Devin's hand for awhile and see if the Nets can hit those perimeter J's.

The iso and top of the key pick & roll game with this Nets backcourt is money. I love the play with Devin at the top of the key - hands off to Vince who hands it back & VC runs across the middle to park at the left corner while C/PF also camp left side of the court & have the SF parked on the right corner...Harris has the whole middle to go one-on-one with his defender & he's so fast either collapsing defense is too late or you have open mid-range shooters or open corner 3 shooters.

Outside of the sloppy turnovers (Jazz also had some ridiculously bad turnovers themselves) there's really not much to complain about the game...at the time I thought Vince sat a bit too long but the results show it was a fine move.

I like Swift. He has a decent mid-range jumpshot / has a post game / is just a huge body / explosive for blocking & rebounding - can backup the 5 or 4 position & so far doesn't force his offense and plays within the team concept. He's listed at 6'9" but seeing him on the court he just looks even bigger to me.

So far (no jinx) the Nets have to be the surprise of the early season.

another 30 pt game from DH...through 15 games he has absolutley surpassed my expectations this early in the season...this is the player we hope we got in exchange for Kidd...and its great watching it become a reality...no predictions from me though....

I agree with Rich, Vince is definitely more comfortable playing without RJ on the court...too similiar of players where it probably ended up taking away from Vince's game...with how conscious he seemed sharing the ball last year...

and I am happy to see Swift getting minutes...
