I was actually hoping for Alan Branch, but I can definately understand this pick. Anthony Gonzalez is a tremendous slot WR, who can stretch the defense, is tough, and has good hands. I question just how big his upside is, but he is a guy who will right in with this offense and Peyton Manning.

Wow!! I surely did not see this one coming. Sounds like a decent player, but sounds like the Colts might have reached to get this guy at this spot.

After I look at who we were able to get after this pick, I'm pretty happy with this pick. Pozluzsny and Harris are good LB's, but the Colts do not put a huge emphasis on their OLB's. They draft them in the mid rounds, and then they let them walk after 3-4 years and their cheap contracts are over. It's the way they've been able to keep so many stars around by letting their LB position fall by the wayside sometimes. To spend a high draft pick and big money on a position you let walk every 3-4 years would be unwise. Gonzalez sounds like a perfect WR for Manning and may be the #2 WR in a couple of seasons.

Mel and Bill have not been in synch before, and Polian has often fared extremely well. I like the pick. If the guy really is a player in the Brandon Stokley mold, we've got a winner.

After watching clips, he reminds me of a cross between Stokley and Ricky Proehl in their prime. Which is good company...

Like most of you I was expecting an LB or DE but I can't say I'm surprised at the Colts for taking a WR, its never a bad idea to give Peyton Manning as many weapons as possible. If anything its good insurance if Wayne or Marvin(or both) go down with injury.

Gonzalez is a guy that will probably step in immediately and contribute just as much as Stokley ever did. Instead of forcing a guy to play the slot who never has before, we got a guy who is the perfect guy to play the slot, allowing us to keep Dallas in at TE instead of forcing him to play out there a bit more than he should.

Speaking of Poz', I really don't think he's a great fit in the Cover 2 scheme either. I'm ok with Gonzalez. We'll see what happens though. I think we'll solve some answers in the undrafted pool. Let's see what happens there.

I wanted to draft Alan Branch. I was upset we didn't draft him, but now I am very happy we got Anthony.
