OFFICIAL: Porter Firing Countdown

Post#1 » by SunsWinSunsWin » Mon Dec 1, 2008 3:45 am

It is clear he is not the right man for the job. It is now officially time to start thinking of a new coach.

Possible candidates:

Jeff Van Gundy
Flip Saunders
Eddie Johnson
Eddie Jordan

I predict Porter is canned before the new year if this team goes below 500.

The sad thing is with Sarver being the owner, the question is will Porter be fired? Remember if the Knicks never gave D'antoni the coaching job Sarver said he wouldn't buy out his contract and he would probally still be coaching the Suns. Not to mention Porter is Steve Kerr's puppet, Kerr can pull all the strings he wants but with a new coach outside the organization he wouldn't have that chance.

I have criticized Porter more than anyone, but I would not blame the loss against the Nets on him.

The offense looked MUCH better.

Avery Johnson would be a good pick. Jeff Van Gundy is not really a run-and-gun coach.
that dunk was sick!

This list sucks.

Like the list we had when we fired MikeD.

Oh well, I just want him gone. I'd take Flip or Eddie Jordan. No Avery Johnson.

You will all laugh, but I say lets bring back Westphal. He wouldn't slow down the offense, and he is a good players coach.

I always liked Westphal...I don't see any moves coming from Kerr/Sarver though. We'll get fed the same spiel we've always gotten that things take time, we're adapting etc etc..

I am not fond of Avery Johnson.

I really like Eddie Johnson. The guy knows his stuff and deserves a chance. Porter just looks lost. He hasn't made any adjustments other than using Singletary.

Eddie Johnson is unproven as well. We need experience here, unfortunately experience cost $$$ so I guess we may see Kerr taking over. Woot.

I think Porter adjusted well today, but he still is making rookie head coach mistakes. I thought there should have been a time out as soon as Amare got an ejection so we didn't lose momentum, and a time out didn't come for a while..

i don´t blame this loss on porter. give him time and you´ll see that he´s a very good coach.
we need to add a defensive minded sg/sf ( no, not marion ) who can take a player outta game.
raja isn´t no defensive mastermind no more, and lb never was. but who? we got pieces in diaw, lb, raja and our rookies. why didn´t dragic played against harris? kerr told us he can play d...

Props to the great one

The guy who isn't getting much sleep right now is Steve Kerr. He is a very good color commentator, maybe we'll be seeing him on TNT again within a year or two.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

Don't blame the Shaq trade on Kerr; it was D'Antoni who pushed for it.

Jeez, whatever!

Nothing too exciting on the coaching front, really. This is why I had a little mixed emotions about firing Porter. But it's obvious to me that he's not going to get it done, even Jon Barry sounds like he can come in and do a better job. F the defense, first thing first is to fix the offense, IMO. We have too much talents to have this much trouble scoring the ball. That's why I'd say bring in Flip. He's an average NBA coach, better than what we have now.

And no, please do not promote Gentry or Thunder Dan. It's not like those guys are doing anything impressive either! I don't know what the hell they are doing as our assistants. Seriously. No one is getting the substitutions right, and isn't Majerle suppose to be our X's and O's guy? What the F are they doing there?

The last thing we want is bring in another control freak, so please don't ever bring up Avery Johnson's name again.

Is Mark Jackson still available?

Mark Jackson was interviewed for the Head Coaching job, but they didn't pick him because he had no Head Coaching experience.
