Bynum is almost back

Post#1 » by dockingsched » Mon Dec 1, 2008 5:00 pm

last 7 games since losing to the pistons:

Nov 30 TOR 18 pts, 8 - 13, 10 rbs
Nov 28 DAL 18 pts, 6 - 12, 10 rbs
Nov 25 NJN 15 pts, 6 - 9, 6 rbs
Nov 23 SAC 15 pts, 6 - 8, 10 rbs
Nov 21 DEN 13 pts, 6 - 9, 13 rbs
Nov 20 PHO 10 pts, 5 - 8, 7 rbs
Nov 18 CHI 18 pts, 5 - 10, 9 rbs

avg: 15.3 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 59%

rebounding is getting there, needs to get over 10 though. his scoring, and more importantly fg%, has drastically improved. scoring over 15, he looks to be ahead of last year's schedule where he didn't start scoring consistently til mid/late december. his blks, which i didn't include, haven't been as high, but he's changing a lot of shots and playing some good post defense.

thoughts on bynum's progress so far?

Wassup with these marbury postings...?

Anyways.. i like how bynum is getting more and more confident attacking the basket. Before getting injured last year i would see a bunch of alley-oops but it died down since the beginning of the season but it's getting up there.. especially yesterday!

I see chris paul and Tyson doing that all the time. High percentage as well as unpredictable.

Keep it up Bynum!!

Love what he's been doing the past few weeks.

He got off to a very slow start, shooting some poor percentages, but he's definitely picked it up a notch and integrated into the system.

i'm pleased with bynum's play the last few games
it will be great when everyone gets into midseason form and then we'll see what this team can do

Agreed...
Bynum has been awesome!! he may not have the shotblocks, but he's sure altering a lot of shots and honestly, I was at the game last night and thought he had 2-3 blocks, then checked the stats and they didn't give him any.

Patience is a virtue. Go Bynum! He's been playing better lately. Just keep working your way back into it slowly.

As I've said before, if he starts to dominate sometime December-January, I'll be happy. As long as he attends the playoffs at full force, we'll have an actual shot at beating whoever comes out of the east.

Here's to a healthy Lakers season.

Right now hes playin just like we need him to play and I'm loving it. His slow start had me a little worried but now he definitely looks alot more comfortable. I cant wait till he explodes and has a monster game.

It was pretty nice to see him own Bosh yesterday. The "League's MVP" couldn't get a decent shot up against him.

I'm very impressed by his D and he's learnt to be more patient on offense too. Good going Drew!

his defense was very impressive. fighting for good position before his man ever gets the ball, not going for any pump fakes, sliding his feet, forcing his man towards the help defense, avoiding foul trouble.

Yup. Now, let's see him sustaining that for the rest of this season and then his career. The game against the Raptors was his first consistent game this season, I think. Pretty damn solid from start to finish.

Do keep in mind, though, that he had a pretty blatant mismatch against Bosh. Probably a different story if JO is in the lineup.

That said, no question Bynum is starting to get comfortable. I see a huge improvement in his overall offensive game -- better post moves, more aggression, higher comfort level. As such, it seems like his teammates are getting more confidence in him, and are more willing to feed him the ball.

Can't wait to see where he's at in a couple of months.

Absolutely. For my money Perkins is one of the top post defenders in the game. He's big, he's rugged and he has a huge mean streak. He's out for blood every single night. Other than seeing if we've devised an answer for Pierce, this will be by far the most interesting matchup on Christmas.
