lets trade for marion

Post#1 » by ItsaVC3 » Mon Dec 1, 2008 2:35 pm

we need more offense and if we add this guy we will get the offense we need
i did this trade on trader checkern and it was successful

Nets get marion
Heat get Simmons,Williams,Swift and/or 1st rounder

Nets need offense the only guy we got that can score is VC and DH and when they go to the bench this offense struggles
marion would help alot

Lineup
PG-Harris
SG-Carter
SF-Marion
PF-Yi
C-Lopez

Actually I want Marion because of his defense and rebounding abilities over anything he can provide offensively.

I like the idea not sure if miami would be up for it though. Unless VC or Harris goes down for an extended period of time it looks as though we are gonna be in the playoff hunt. Marion could make us legit. Lets get it done.

he is no longer young, and way too expensive.

I dont understand how he's too expensive when he expires in 09...we'd be cutting cost by acquiring him since we'd be getting rid on simmons and seans contracts.

Marion is also a pretty damn good defender/rebounder even if he is "no longer young".

Take out the first round pick and its a deal.I think the NETS are gonna make the playoffs at a 7th or 8th seed the way there playing right now.But if we bring in a healthy Marion then i think we would move up to a 4 thru 6 seed.Maybe i'm getting ahead of myself but i love the way this team is playing right now and if we keep it up anything is possible.DEVIN HARRIS!! is makin your favorite point guards look like D leaguers GO NETS!!! 47 points WOW!!! I haven't felt this good since the 2001/02 season

If it's the GSW pick, I'm totally fine leaving it in. If it's our 2009 first or Dallas's 2010 pick, I'd think twice about it. If it was our 2010 pick, I'd want an ok young player or something else from them back.

You guys do realize how brutal that package is for Miami right? Simmons is extreme negative value and the Heat can be under the cap if they just let Marion walk for nothing.

No way on Marion.

1st off, I don't know what you guys are thinking? You guys are out of your minds.
9-7 and some great play and you're starting to sound like PDX fans in the offseason.
How does a longer contract for a crap role player, a crappy protected 1st rounder and Sean Williams net you Marion?
Then you guys want to take the pick out!?!

Also, who in the hell would think we need more offense?

We need perimeter defense and more reliable outside shooting and rebounding.
Now, I understand, in theory Marion provides just that, but he is just not it.

Also, we are not going to rent Marion for 1 year at the cost of a pick, Sean Williams, expirings and Simmons contract, who is an expiring next season, even if that is robbery for Marion.
We would look to resign him, but he is just not worth it.

He is a me first player, plain and simple.
He want to be a #1 option, even though he never should have been in and he is too old to now be for his skill set.
He will want big time money next year, and is worth only 7-8 a year for 3 years, with a 4th being a stretch.
He is over 30 and absolutley and completely relies on his atleticism.
He is not the guy that gets us over the hump, he is a guy who takes us from a 7 seed to the 5th, but doesn't especially help us get out of the 1st round.
If we did get to the 2nd round, it wouldn't be because we aquired him.

No, just no.

Actually I agree with most of what you just said vc4p.. I also think miami gets ripped off in this deal yet people want to take the 1st rounder out of the deal... Get real.

Personally i'm fine staying with the team we got unless we keep playing out of our minds and become a player away from making some serious noise in the playoffs.

Marion would be my first choice and would GLADLY deal sean to get him.

Hell, i'd deal sean for a couple of towel boys at this point.

Im still pushing to get Sheed. You can make any type of combo you want between sean, boone, simmons, najera, and a pick. He brings the defense we need and then some and is also the hardest player to defend because of his ability and size. He can draw any center in the league out of the paint and the way VC and Devin are attacking the basket right now they can live off of uncontested layups/dunks. The way the Nets are playing now + Sheed = you dont want to play us in the playoffs.
***Granted they can play this way all season.

I think it works out good for miami because it gives them the frontcourt help they need. You guys HATE on Sean like he's some bum with no talent. We all no he's athletic and can block shots but the kid is young and doesn't get to play so what do u want from him.AND Why the hell would we look to resign Marion?that makes no sense, thats what makes this trade good, we can dump his ass after the season.Thats why i say take out the first rnder cuz marions a 1 year rental. My thing is this,I want to win now,i want to make the playoffs now because it will attract the bigger free agents when the time comes and it makes me happy lol.First you say marions to good for what were giving them, then you say were giving to much.then you say we need perimeter defense, and rebounding. That sounds like Sean Marion in real time to me not in theory.I'm not even big on marion i just read this post and thought he would be a good fit for this year to make the playoffs and then we could dump him.I personaly would like to go after travis outlaw.

Marion would not be a great fit . We are more of a half court team and he sucks at playing half court basketball ( like he does in Miami ) .

IF we upgrade the SF position somehow it was to be someone who is an excellent outside shooter to compliment Harris and Carters slashing .

His contract seriously sucks bigtime . 21.5 Million over 5 years still left is way too much , especially the length.
