Has Anyone Changed Their Opinion On Nash Trades?

Post#1 » by JordanL » Tue Dec 2, 2008 4:37 am

I'm a Blazer fan who posted here during the pre-season to measure the reaction level to a trade between Portland and Phoenix.

Basically Portland sends young talent, Phoenix sends Nash + filler.

It's been a while, both teams are playing well, and Phoenix has beat Portland twice at home.

What does everyone think of the idea now, a month into the season?

I was for trading Nash way back in the 2005 draft for Chris Paul...Boy wish I was a GM lol...Yeah though the Blazers and Suns should look into that though.

Seriously you wanted to trade the MVP for Paul back then?

I find that hard to believe...

Yeah I watched Paul when he played for Wake Forest I knew he was going to be a star but didn't know he would be as good as he is today.

I really don't see the point in trading Nash before 2010. If we want to "rebuild", why not choose to do it when there are a bunch of decent FAs available(2010), not before...

I'd rather trade ANYONE before Nash. He is the only one who I know for sure that cares for this team and is gonna kill himself every night. Unfortunately can't say the same about "the black jesus" Amare...

Not sure what sense it would make to trade Nash, unless the Suns give up and just flat out rebuild. Have the Suns even played a single game without Nash since he's been in Phoenix where they haven't looked lost and confused? The Suns are pretty much done anyway. Run and gun was their game, and that's all over now. Shaq is done, Bell is done, Hill is too old, and Barbosa hasn't taken the next step. Really the only players left playing well from a couple years ago are Nash, Amare and Diaw. Even Nash seems to have lost a step since he dominated those mvp years, though it's a bit unfair to compare since Porter's "system" is the opposite of D'Antoni's. I would love to see Phoenix return to form, as they were so fun to watch during D'Antoni's years, but I have to admit that right now, it's looking a bit bleak.

I love your avator SD1306.

Trading Nash is acceptable now. He is turning the ball over like crazy and he will only continue to go down hill with age.

This team needs to start getting used to having a new PG running things as it will be happening within 2 years anyways. Portland really wants him. Give them Nash and throw in Barnes and take back Rudy Fernandez and whoever. Rudy HAS to be in the deal.

We need more young talent. This team needs to get Rudy back. I can live with giving up on the others, but not Rudy. This guy is something special.

Nash will be a member of the Suns ring of honor no doubt. I can't thank him enough for all he has done for this team, but its time for us to move on.

I still don't know what to do about Amare. If he continues to do nothing on the court then he won't be highly sought out in 2010 especially with more microfracture in his future and Bron, Wade, Bosh, and others who will be in the market. If he starts to tear it up and continues with his attitude then you must trade him so you don't lose him for nothing.

I wouldn't trade Nash. I would consider trading Amare before him.

And still wanted to trade a MVP for him. I mean, now without a doubt I would do it. But back on draft day he was just an unproven draftee, you don't trade an MVP for that.
