CBA question

Post#1 » by ritt0093 » Tue Dec 2, 2008 3:00 pm

I know there is a CBA questions ection of the forum, but this is relavent to an idea I had for the wolves. My question is: Say team A trades for a player from team B. Team A releases the player. Can he then be resigned immediatly by team B? If not, then kindly disregard the rest of the trade idea, but if thats possible what do you think of the following?

MIN sends/PHX gets:
Rashad McCants
Brian Cardinal
2nd Round Pick

MIN gets/PHX sends:
Raja Bell
Grant Hill
Robin Lopez

Grant Hill would then be released and could resign with Phoenix. I think McCants would help Phoenix. His numbers in much less time seem comparable to Bell's and he is young so he could help Phoenix over a longer term. I also think that with a change of scenery/a vetran team he would flourish. Minnesota takes on Bell's contract, which is the same length as Cardinal's, but they also gain Robin Lopez.

PG: Foye, Telfair, Ollie
SG: Miller, Bell, Carney
SF: Gomes, Miller, (Brewer 2009)
PF: Jefferson, Love, Smith
C: Collins, Lopez, Madsen, Booth

Eventually I would also like to see something like Smith, Booth, Ollie for Felton from CHA. Or something similar. I just don't think Craig Smith has much of a future on this team. We don't need 3 offensivly focused PFs, and Smith is definitly worse than Jefferson and Love.

There is a waivers process, and if Grant Hill cleared waivers, he could return to his former team. You seem to already know that if a player is traded, he can't be traded back to his former team for the rest of that season. And for those playing at home, the season begins July 1, so we could trade Cardinal, Collins back to MEM.

I don't think PHO would like this trade. Raja Bell is a key part of the Suns, and they seem to be very attached to Robin Lopez .. perhaps because he might be their last infusion of youth for a while, since sarver traded picks. I agree that McCants would be useful for the Suns, but I think we'd have to agree to take on a long, bad contract for them to consider sending us Lopez (who I again agree, would be worth a shot here). Sarver is cheap and longs to get under the lux, but Boris Diaw is playing better this year, and Barbosa has value as well, so I think it would be difficult to coax Lopez away from the suns.

If we could do it I would love it. Raja Bell is a good vet defensive guy with a nice jumper. Lopez could be the back up 5 we need to rotate with Love.

I would really like this trade. Heck, if anything if Phx gave the money we could buy our Raja also. Not sure he is in our plans. But I would gladly move Shad for Lopez and if Phx was pushing the money for the buyouts we could work it out.

1. No chance in hell Phoenix does this. Put down the pipe.
2. If a player is traded, then cut, he has to wait 30 days before returning to his old team. See Antonio McDyess.

shh..

I assumed Phx approved. I was simply answering from our side. I do not like to answer for fans of other teams.

I think Phoenix would do it if we agreed to buy one of their 1st round picks this coming draft.

I did this in quick reply so, *green font.
