Odom has Flair!

Post#1 » by Chubby Chaser » Tue Dec 2, 2008 10:08 am

Lamar Odom came into the Lakers locker room before Tuesday’s game looking like Santa Claus.
He toted a large bag under his arm and a huge smile on his face. You half-expected him to start “Ho,Ho,Ho-ing!” around the room.
So what was in the bag? Odom brought in an assortment of professional wrestling videogames, figurines and DVDs. Turns out, the Lakers forward is a huge pro wrestling fan, dating back to his childhood.

Odom said his favorite is “Ric Flair,” a retired professional wrestler known for his platinum blonde locks, in-ring antics and use of the catchphrase, “Woooooo!” Odom said he cried as a boy when he discovered the action wasn’t real.
One of his most cherished birthday gifts was one of Flair’s trademark full-length robes, replete with rhinestones, sequins and colorful feathers along the neckline.
So where does Flair rank among Odom’s childhood heroes?
“Magic Johnson, No. 1. Then Flair,” Odom said with a straight face. “No, really.”
He’s got some sense afterall.

Awesome read, thanks for the link. Everything I read about Odom and his "behind the scene" ventures, and interests, makes me love the guy even more. Odom exiting LA would be a sad day for Laker fans.

I know exactly where Lamar is coming from. We're in the same age group, for all you other guys born in the early 80's know that wrestling was HUGE to our childhood group. I thought it was real until I was 10 when I saw Bret Hart doing an interview on Regis (I think, It was some morning show) and Bret said something like "We all know wrestling is fake, but it's all about entertainment" And I was completely devastated. After that I just focused all my time and energy on Basketball. The undertaker used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid.
