Need information?

Post#1 » by Sentenza199 » Tue Dec 2, 2008 1:44 am

Good morning Lakers fan,

I'm a Knick fan from NYC. This weekend I'll be on vacation in Los Angeles for business and I wanted some information. This is will my first trip in your fine city and I was wondering about the weather. Last year at the same time I was in Las Vegas where it was 60's during the day and the temperature drop to 50's at night. I was wondering what to expect, should a bring sweater or will I be OK with a t-shirt?

Also I hear there a lot of traffic. So will it be difficult to go around the city by car? By the way how the public transportation? In NYC you can get anywhere by subway, do you guys have the same thing? To conclued how the night life anyplce I should visit?

Thanks in advance for all your recommandations.
Wish you guys a great season.

From one basketball fan to an other.

Check weather.com's 10-day forecast.

Public transportation sucks in L.A. They try, but you can't get around without a car, especially if you want to see the town. Rent one.

Nightlife depends on where you go. Meatpacking district, village music/bar/lounges, lower east side, you've got all that stuff in L.A. except you have to drive to get there.

LA is a big city (different big than NY, LA is spread out big). public trans will get you anywhere, but unlike NY it will take you 2 hours to get there. taxis are very expensive just to get into one and that is not counting the vast distances and the traffic delays. traffic every where and at all times in LA is like trying to get from Ikea in New Jersey to Manhattan between 5 pm and 7 pm. have fun!

Hey guys, thanks for all the great informtion.

I'll be in the city for 3days me and the little lady. From what I read and shouldn't depend on the public system and instead rent ourself a car!
My girl want to do some visit(Hollywood, rodeo dr.,walk of fame) while for me I'm trying to get some tickets but look like I have to settle for Clippers game...Which is better than nothing...
Also our hotel located in Manhattan beach, can someone tell me if were close of all those place mention above?

Thanks in advance...

Manhattan Beach........ Lets see.
Well since I dont know your age, then Im going to throw some places out there assuming your over 21.
If you like Italian food and a bar at the same time...... Good food and hang out, then here is
Talia's Restuarant & Bar (310) 545-6884 , Mangiamo Ristroante & Bar (310) 318-3434.
If you like Mexican, then El Sombrero (310) 376-5005.
In Manhattan if stay local and want to watch games and a good bar.
Then,
Grunions Sports Bar & Grill (310) 545-9910, Manhattan Beach Brewing Company (310) 798-2744.
Hermosa also has a lot of cool bars and pubs, and you really dont need any names, just get in a cab and tell the driver to take to to main street and there are bars in every corner. But a good spot is Saffrie Nightclub & Lounge (310) 372-9705....... Lots of women, lots. But you'll have fun. The Lighthouse (310) 376-9833
LA or Hollywood............. Night life, clubs etc.
Some you need to be on the guest list some you dont.
Blvd 3 on Hollywood Blvd, Skybar, Opera, Vanguard.
Really hot strip clubs...... Just incase you get in argument and you need time alone........
4 Play Gentleman's Club (310) 575-0660, Liquid Kitty (310) 473-3707, Bare Elegance (310) 649-1100. The best of the best.........Skin Gentlemen's Club (310) 838-7546.

One more thing since your being a kind sport about it.
If you and your lady want to go to a club on Friday or Sat, let me know I will put you on the guest list for Vanguard or Blvd 3 or Opera.
You can email our mod if you want with your name and last name and I will call my girls and have her put you guys on the guest list.
I personally recomend Blvd 3 on Friday and Vanguard on Sat, but regardless let me know.

Manhattan Beach is a good area. Although it will be pretty chilly near the beach at this time. But seeing that you're from New York, chilly for us is probably hot for you guys. Definitely rent a car. No one takes public transportation in LA. Definitely make it a point to stop by In N Out. It's a staple of So Cal. All of the really good bars are in West LA, Santa Monica area. If you're looking for tourist stuff to do during the day, you can visit the Jon Paul Getty Museum if you're intersted in that stuff. It's North on the 405 from you and will be on your left. You can't miss it. It's free you just have to pay for parking which is like 7 bucks I believe. A really cool thing to do also if you want to take your lady out on a date is to hit up the Laugh Factory in Hollywood. You can buy tickets online at their website for cheap, I think they're 40 bucks ea. or something with a 2 drink minimum. Plus, a lot of celebrity comedians randomly pop in to do a set. Last time I was there, Dane Cook was the surprise comedian. My buddy and his girl went a couple of months ago and Dave Chapelle showed up! He nearly had a heart attack. The Griffith Observatory in Glendale is also cool to check out. There's a lot of stuff to do in LA. Just be ready to sit in traffic after 4 o'clock until 7. Especially if you're on the 405! It's a nightmare.

TonyMontana,

We will be in LA this Sunday until Thursday December 11th...
But we will go to those place your recommand for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday have a nice meal and enjoy the lounge after. My only regret not been able to attend a game...Wow I was surprise to see how expensive LAKERS tickets are. I thought there would be in the same price range as the GARDEN but that not the case.
At least now we'll be better prepare...

Again thanks for all the great tips

No Problem Mang.
Anytime, but if you want to watch the game on Sunday, then both places Grunions Sports Bar & Grill Manhattan Beach Brewing Co. are both good.
