Either way, if I had to draft one of these guys, I'd take Oden. The whole talent around can be a lame excuse for Bynum. He was on a mediocre Laker squad for 2.5 years. To the point where Kobe even wanted a trade. They could have used him if he had more to give.

lakers went from low seeded team to best record in the west simply on the improvement of andrew bynum when he became the full time starter.

No. They became the best team after Gasol's arrival. Bynum wasn't even playing while they were climbing the ladder of the Western Conference.

Of course, add Bynum to the mix, and they are even better.

Ok, I stand corrected. However, the claim that they climbed to 1st because of Bynum is not true. Gasol had plenty to do with that.

Allow me to repeat some statistics for you from this year - that show how absurd it is to ignore Oden...

Before he came back - Portland was #30 in the league in defensive efficiency, giving 100 points per game (a lot given their slow pace).

Since he has come they are up to #14 in defensive efficiency in the league (for the entire year). They gave just 88 points per game during the games he is in.

If we adjust these 88 PPG to Portland's pace - you will see that during the games Oden was in - Portland was the 7th best defensive team (efficiency wise) in the league...

Without Oden - Portland is last in the league in defensive efficiency, with him, they are 7th best - and they are just getting to know how to play with him and to his strengths.

I know it is hard to appreciate the impact Oden has since his numbers are so "modest" - but once you really look at the team-game - you see that Portland is still scoring at the same offensive efficiency they did all year with him (his offense, while it is still raw - is not a detraction for Portland) - but his defensive impact is already magnificent.

Damn. I stand corrected yet again. My apologies. He averaged something like 12ppg and 10rpg unless I am wrong again.

Well, we will see how he develops. The talent around him holds back his stats, but great players will put great numbers regardless of who they play with. Especially defensively and rebounding.

I for one wish I could see more of Oden. They had a bunch of national TV when he was injured. Haven't seen much since. He is doing a great job on limited minutes. I'd like to see more

Oden vs Howard on Tuesday.

http://www.nba.com/FanNight/

Please vote, we are all sick of the Lakers vs mediocre teams. Is it me or the Lakers play every Tuesday and get on NBA TV each time. Something fishy
