I hope its Avery. I think the Bargnani / Dirk comparisons have some merit. He is quite the motivator. (maybe b-balls answer to Jacques Demers)
Avery is just Sam turned up a few decibals. The guy relied on Del Harris most of the time because he was inexperienced and when he started feeling more confident with coaching and taking the reins the Mavs lost to the Warriors in the 1st round and then totally underachieved last year after the meltdown they had in the finals. If he was such a good motivator then Dallas, already up 2-0, wouldn't have blown a double digit lead in the 4th quarter in game 3 and then laid down and died the next 3 games after that. There is no way BC brings in Avery.

For the sake of the board I am glad Sam Mitchell has finally been fired.
I can now take that pansy Guy Smiley off my ignore list.

overall, nice post, BUT,,, Does Bargnani whither the way he did without Sam? I don't think for a minute Sam maximizes his players' talents.
I'd love to have a beer with Sam and instuct him about politics, but its all business and Sam made off with millions, so he'll be alright. And he's got that Aurbach trophy to look at when he's feeling blue.

What is this "character" you speak of and that we haven't seen in the Raptors lately?
Good guy? Yes. Character guy? I don't even know what that is.

I'm having mixed feelings, but it seemed inevitable. Change is nice though. Good luck Triano!

He won't be that
Avery until about year 3.
That is why my comparison to Demers. He will be one of the best coaches for about 2 yrs, then will get turned off. I think he'll help Bosh too.

If I remember correctly didn't BC have a closed door meeting with Smitch a week ago? Wonder if he warned him that if things weren't going to change that they're would be consequences soon.
