Link also states that the team is closing in on a contract with SS Edgar Renteria for 2 years. No word on how much.

Looks like it's going to be 19.5M for two years. I would imagine we'd lose a pick for this, right? Second rounder?

Giants don't lose anything because the Tigers declined to offer arbitration.

Would've preferred Khalil Greene even though he had an abysmal year last year. Didn't seem like St Louis gave up much to get him, and Greene's better defensively and a little bit younger, and probably cheaper.

Too much money to pay a SS past his prime with declining power and speed.

I don't think I would have liked Greene either. He is a horrid hitter (at the least BA-wise), and we need offense much more than defense.

Return to San Francisco Giants
