I wouldnt mind trying to get Hakim Warrick. Would be a nice energy player off the bench at the 3/4 spot.

If Milwaukee continues to lose, I would inquire about the availability of either Ramon Sessions (RFA 2009) or Luke Ridnour (URFA 2010).
I'd read that Joe Smith is growing frustrated in Oklahoma City. Yeah, I already mentioned him... But, Nick Collison I forget if I'd mentioned already but he's a nice player I think could fit in the front court. The thing with him is his contract runs through 2010.
Hm... Where has Lindsey Hunter gone? Wasn't he just with Chicago? I wonder if Chucky Atkins is available.

Re: Trade ideas/predictions for Ainge before the deadline
Big Baby is a fine player to have on the roster. He can back up the center for very short stints because of his girth and his pretty nice ball handling skills for a big man. He has no shot and is a sub par post player and post defender due to lack of height and jumping ability. He costs nothing so there is no need to unload him. Nobody else really is trying to get him either so love him or hate him he is here to stay.
Powe is actually a fine contributer. As a back up to Garnett he is terrific at his current salary slot. However, if we had to trade him and move Big Baby to backup PF that wouldn't hurt us too too much. Of all our assets he is the most likely to net something in a trade.
We have no draft picks of value that we can trade right now. Walker and Pruitt were second round picks for a reason so they aren't likely to be highly sought after. Giddens was a consensus second round pick so he too is unlikely to bring back much. POB may have even less value.
Scalabrine, Eddie House, Tony Allen by virtue of salary and expiring deals might be movable. Would anybody else really want them?
I think we are probably stuck with the bench players we have.

"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Re: Trade ideas/predictions for Ainge before the deadline
Blatche would be a great pick-up, we haven't had an inconsistent, talented gun-toter since Telfair - but you're not getting him from WAS
My two ideas-
1. BBD for Balkman
2. Scal, O'Bryant for Robert Swift
A rested Cassell can round out the bench, and of course a mid-season FA like P.J. Brown or another jump-shooting defending big would be ideal, but it's hard to predict exactly which players will get bought out.

humblebum wrote:Pete the problem with your statistical analysis is that it fails to pass the eye ball test. Glen Davis consistently guards the best post player on the floor. So it makes sense that his defensive PER is no good given what the coaching staff is asking him to do on the floor, especially when you consider he has to make up for the defensive shortcomings of Eddie House and Leon Powe. In terms of rebounding on the defensive end you'll often see Davis dutifully boxing out and allowing his teammate to snare the rebound. Offensively his game is perimeter oriented so unlike Powe he's not really focused on working for loose change around the basket. His greatest asset offensively, and frankly it's an underrated aspect of the game, is his ability to set picks and get guys open. He understands the offense and finds the right areas on the floor to create floor spacing. The jumpshot isn't going down quite yet but he has the potential to knock it down.
Finally he brings energy and attitude. Yes intangibles. Stat geeks don't like intangibles because it messes up all their pretty numbers but there is a reason why Davis continues to get minutes, sometimes over Powe and Perk. Doc likes what he sees from Davis on the floor, the numbers aren't there for Davis because Doc doesn't ask Davis to "get numbers" he's asking him to do everything but that.
I agree that the Celtics need another rotation level big but I'm making the prediction that when that does happen, Davis and Powe will be splitting the leftover minutes, Davis might even win a larger share of that role.
There is no doubt that Davis does a lot of little things both offensively and defensively that make him deserving of minutes - however, he still isn't statistically productive and this team would upgrade from him in a heartbeat if they could obtain a player who could...Davis plays because the alternative is POB, who can't do anything at a high level...
Davis doesn't "consistently guard the opposing team's best post player" that is a fallacy - he guards the bigger of the two frontcourt players, whether or not that happens to be the other team's best post player is a matter of circumstance...he also doesn't "make up for House/Powe's defensive shortcomings." He is a man defender against large bigs, nothing more, nothing less...
...and if the team does get a higher-quality center, i think you'll find Davis getting little PT - just like what happened last year...Powe hasn't been involved in the offense very much the last few weeks - no P&R and no consistent post touches - but he has consistently out-produced Davis and, despite popular wisdom on this board, is en excellent man defender and a very solid team defender..the way people run with quotes from Doc outdated by over a year and a half is amazing to me.
Powe had trouble with the rotations early last season, steadily improved, and now doesn't skip a beat - if most people actually knew what they were looking at on defense it would help: things like P&R strategy strong-side/weak-side help, rotational assigments - most on this board don't know what to look for and nobody actually knows the defensive scheme the team uses aside from basics like "blitzing the pick" and such...

But, isn't Swift still injured? I rather have Collison.

Our bench right now is really 3 deep. Powe, Allen and House. I don't believe that BBD or Scalabrine would be on most teams active lists - especially not a good team.
What we are going to do about this - I just don't know. It's really worrisome.

Agreed, I think we should sign marbury to play point and bring eddie house off the ball. House is horrible at bringing the ball up under pressure and it screws up our offense, I hope danny can pull a rabbit out of a hat and get one of the clippers bigs.

baby may have played his way off the team after tonight's meltdown. I don't mind the guy as the 10th or 11th guy on my bench but against taller teams he and powe are at a disadvantage night in and night out. glenn does use his bulk well against bigger players but if you could parlay him into a vet like joe smith you'd at least have to consider it. pruitt also appears to be expendable especially if giddens develops
"Now, there's a steal by Bird..!"

No thanks for Marbury. Aren't people following what's going on with him and New York? There's no resolution in sight. When there's one... He'll sign with a western conference team like Dallas.
Boston will have to trade for a real back up point guard and center. The problem is: This season Boston has little to nothing in trade assets. The inclusion of Scalabrine should tell you that the offer from Boston isn't that good to begin with. Another problem is that Boston's reserve players aren't good contracts for trading as they aren't high salary contracts. Still, I see Scalabrine and House as the players that could be traded. Davis won't... If an extension can't be agreed on with Powe. Davis might be a cheaper alternative to extend as oppose to Powe.

Re: Trade ideas/predictions for Ainge before the deadline
After tonight, if I were Danny Ainge I would be looking everywhere to move big baby, Maybe even try to consider Tinsley in a deal some how with Bird's Pacer's.
To be honest, BBD needs to know he needs the Celtics more than they need him....
I would be fine with Scal, Powe and POB.
But after Tonight BBD has no place on this team imho.

I don't get it.
Were on an 11 game winning streak, looking better than last years team.
Pierce is doing great
Ray Allen is back
Rondo is an all star
KG is doing his thing
but if i didn't no better, i would think were some desperate .500 team looking at this thread.
this team is unreal this year. they play the celtic teams from the 80's. were watching a great team, i'm loving every minute of it. thank you danny.

I'd considered the idea of acquiring Tinsley before. However, I doubt Indiana really would buy him out preferring to trade him instead. With that said, I don't like Tinsley's salary for two more seasons at $7.2M and $7.5M. And given his attitude, he might become disruptive as a teammate on Boston. It's like pick your poison with either him or Matbury. Not to mention, isn't Tinsley usually injury prone? I read he isn't much of a shooter and turns the ball over as well. Nonetheless, I could take a chance on him and hope that he can adjust for the better in a different and winning environment. But, that salary is enough to deter me. I think Ainge would think about it only if it's a buyout situation.
