STICKY!! Rivalries

Post#1 » by ws26 » Fri Dec 5, 2008 3:36 am

Hey, I'm gonna write an article on rivalries and I wanted some feedback.
I was hoping that you could give me a list of the team you would consider your rival, scale that rivalry 1-10, and your most hated player in the league (on any team).
Thanks.

Hated is Kobe, but everyone hates him.
Are you talking only NBA rivalry?

I will assume you are.

We hate Kobe, Melo, T-Mac.

April 23, 1984: After the Jazz go down 2-1 in the five-game series in the first round of the playoffs against the Denver Nuggets, Denver Post columnist Woody Paige writes: "The Jazz have no heart. Stick a fork in them. They're done." His comments ignite the team and the fans. Fans wear T-shirts that say, "Jazz have heart" and Utah wins the next two games to take the series.

This is considered the first time the team really entrenched itself into this city, as opposed to a temporary holder for a future move.

I think our most hated player is Kobe. or Artest

Most hated team is the lakers, but the rockets are probably our biggest rival.

1. Roxettes - BabyMac
2. Thuggets - MarshMelo
3. Flakers - Kome

Actually, any of these 3 could be #1, and all are 10s on the hate meter for me. Other teams to include...

Portland - I don't hate any players (not anymore anyway) mostly because they own us
Spurs - Bowen and because they also own us
Hornets - DWill VS CP3, need I say more?

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

If you believe our record, our biggest rivals are middling Eastern Conference teams.

Rockets-Tmac
I'd rank this rivalry a 10 with 1 being a girl with a bad laugh and 10 being Renee Zellweiger

Nuggets-Melo
This rivalry is an 8 or a 9 the games aren't usually very competitive. Either team usually gets up early and the other plays catch up unsuccessfully.

Lakers- The Refs
Doesn't quite feel like a rivalry because I don't think the Lakers care too much about us. Hopefully that will change in the playoffs this year.

Teams:
1. Rockets (9 out of 10) - How many great playoff series have these two teams had? Stockton...open for three ...uh-oh... YES!!!
2. Nuggets (8 of 10) - closest geographic rivalry and that seven game series in the 90's kicked things up a notch. I miss Tom Chambers busting Mount Motumbo in the face on a regular basis.
3. Lakers (8 of 10) - this goes back way past Kobe. The Jazz taking the real showtime Lakers to 7 games back in the eighties started it.
4. Bulls (6) - Two great Finals series.

Players (past and present):
1. Kobe Bryant (9.5) - no one gets more boos, and no one sticks more daggers in our hearts, except for maybe ...
2. Tim Duncan (9) - Tim Duncan's arrival in San Antonio was the end of the Jazz's dominance over our one-time division rival. Just like Mailman always owned the Admiral, Timmy always owns the Jazz.
3. Michael Jordan (now: 7 in '98: 11) - he pushed off
4. Magic Johnson (6) - the one man most NBA pundits think was a better PG than Stockton
5. Isaiah Thomas (5) - Karl Malone's elbow and Isaiah's whining about Stockton on the dream team cemented this rivalry.
6. T-Mac (5) - two consecutive playoff eliminations have Jazz fans looking forward to every Rockes matchup.
7. 'Melo(5)
8. The euro-flopping trio (4): Ginobili, Scola, and Oberto.
9. Chris Paul (3) - likely to move up the list.
10. Karl Malone(1) - left to play for the #$%*!@ Lakers.

Refs
1. Dick "fixer" Bavetta (15 out of 10)

Announcers
1. Mark Jackson (8.5)

Columnists
1. Bill Simmons (2) - this is my favorite subplot of the whole season, so-far.

Most hated team: Denver Thuggets (10)
Most hated player: Marshmellow Anthony (11)

I hate pretty much any Western Conference (9) team but may be The poor Clippers.

Some other players that I hate (9): TMac, Ginobbli, Tony Parker, Stephon Marbury.

I am a Kobe Bryant fan.

Biggest rival are still The Spurs.

Regards,
