what are the stats on a team going past the first round of the playoffs with an interim coach? Furthermore what are the numbers for a team to advance to the second round or beyond in a season where the coach has been fired midway in same season? This has been done maybe once or twice in the last 20 years?

I like Sam, but whether or not this will fix the ship is extremely doubtful. We put lipstick on a pig , but its still a pig. We changed coaching, but the same talentless D league scrub and Euroleague washout AP and NBA reject Solo-Man are still on this roster, still sucking ass.

Anthony Parker? shooting at .392 FG%, against denver he shot 2-11 . Where is this "leader" when we need him most? Where was he against NJ ? oh i forgot hiding in the corner and missing clutch FTs with seconds to go to win the game. Dont get me started on this piece of trash. Hes been trash this season. He was trash in the playoffs. Every single time we need him to step up he chokes. Last years playoffs he had another 30 + minute 0 point stinkers against Orlando, and once again this "veteran" was like a scared kitten **** itself in the corner of the room when we needed him to come through for us the most. How many times will this continue to happen?

Moon. Dumb as bricks. Anyone who calls moon a "defensive ace" is either blind or watching the wrong player. Wow for all his athleticism hes horrible at defensive rotations, he has terrible shot selection, he has not improved in any area of his game, except maybe improving his jumper only marginally, and hes still mediocre at best at that. Everyone keeps telling him he needs to drive, but he sucks at it. His decision making with the ball in his hand basically goes like " Jamario see basket . Jamario shoot " or "Jamario is dribbling. If Jamario doesnt lose dribble soon Jamario will shoot". Cutting? Slashing? Penetrating? No No No Jamario doesnt do these things. Who the hell do you think he is, an NBA player? He looks like hes afraid of getting hit by his own shadow. Yeah you're a daddy and you are playing for a contract and you dont wana get hurt we get it, but dont suck **** and let it affect your game at least.

Every game every team will be salivating at the opportunity to attack these 2 with the field of far more athletically gifted and intelligent basketball players, which at their positions there is an ocean of in this league. AP and Moon are not NBA starting calibur players. We will continue losing as long as this trash is still on our roster. Firing Mitchell has only done one thing ; given us an excuse if we are in the lottery and another year for BC to keep the rabid dogs at bay before they find another target to blame this teams woes on.

Oh yeah did i forget to mention Solo-Man who should have a warning sign attached ' may induce vomiting when watching ' . This has left us leaning on a rookie pg to run the team when Calderon is out. Nothing like a rookie backup PG to ensure deep playoff success . Then theres Kapono . Ok now immagine this is practice. Do you think Sam Mitchell tells Kapono to do his stupid pump fake , drive/ take horrid shot routine? Or do you think Sam encourages him to take the 3 pt shat? Obviously the ladder. Why is he playing so dumb? This roster sucks. Some of the blame goes on the coach, but no team is contending or going anywhere deep in the playoffs without steady veterans on the bench who contribute. Unless you have Shaq + Kobe but even then the two best players on earth had solid supporting cast, way better than our own. We have Chris , Jose, Bargs n a Hobbled Jo + trash. This isn't getting it done.

By "you guys talk as if", are you referring to Chris Bosh, Chris Bosh from the Toronto Raptors? Those are his actual words. I'm sure the arm chair critics with hypotheticals at their disposal have more insight on what is actually wrong with the team than he does .

Could that comment by Bosh be the reason why all of a sudden numerous Raptors RealGMers are now turning on him? No wonder, he figuratively flushed the BC kool-aide down the toilet with that statement, and on top of that he stated (in not so many words), that all things considered, in his view the 8-9 record is not that bad at all.

Oh, please. Spare me the rolly eyes. You know bloody well I was responding to Dogbert and the few others who share his opinion. If nothing else, "you guys" is plural and Bosh is singular.

Why would I respond to Bosh? 1) He's not here to answer, so that would be pointless. 2) Who knows why he responded the way he did. Does he believe it? Is he trying to weigh his words because he's on camera and doesn't want to upset either Colangelo or the Smitch if they might listen? Does he think the problem is more the roster and is trying to send a message to Colangelo? Who the hell knows?

I'm not a mind reader. When you quote multiple people who contextually appear to be offering similar opinions, and then use a plural term like "you guys talk as if" in your reply it's fair to assume that your comments are directed to both of them.

Anyhow, what is their to take issue with in DogBert's statement when you have two key players on the roster, Chris Bosh and Jermaine O'Neal, essentially saying the exact same thing?....oh and for good measure:

I've been awaiting the Sam Mitchell firing for a long time. Finally the Sam Mitchell era is dead.

Ever since he came in, the excuse has always been the same. THE TEAM SUCKS. THE TEAM SUCKS. It was like a broken record. Last year, the reason our perimeter defense was bad was because we didn't have a suitable defensive center. This year, we get Jermaine O'Neal and yet our perimeter defense still sucks with perimeter defenders playing so closely to their men. So where was the improvement in perimeter D that some pro-Mitchell people were arguing would occur if we got a solid defender at centre to take care of our interior defensive woes?

And of course, I still saw: post players being doubled even if they weren't dangerous, bizzare substitution patterns (kapono in the 4th while we had leads and should have been concentrating on defense), a ton of Bosh iso plays and very bad results after time out situations.

I never understood Babcock bringing this guy in when we had a whole bunch of young players. The theory was at the time that we had a bunch of young players so we may as well get a coach who could grow. As if an inexperienced coach was going to help out young players. That's paradoxical. You need an experienced coach to help out young players.

And we've seen it time and time again. Lots of players have not flourished in this system. The point guard position under Mitchell is the biggest that comes to mind. Rafer, James, T.J. to mention a few. They were all accused of playing their 'own' games. The only one who has completely bought into Sam's system was Jose but that has also had a negative effect in that it has reduced his offense to a stagnant uncreative half court pick and roll. I believe that Jose can still drive and break down the opposition. I've seen spurts of it. But that has never been the preference of a Sam Mitchell-type of offense. I was so entirely sick of seeing Jose to Bosh iso plays, especially in 4th quarter situations. They were so predictable.

In short, I've always argued to TRY a new coach. Why not experiment? See what the team can do under a different system and see what the effect of the new coach can be. So many defenders of Mitchell were arguing that it wasn't his fault because he himself wasn't on the floor. A coach can only do so much, it's up to the players to institute it. Institute what? The ingenious Bosh iso play I suppose. Those well crafted plays we've come to expect from Sam after time outs?

However, we'll see what Triano can do for this team. We'll see if a coach can have an effect. Of course, if Triano doesn't have the desired effect, then all the Mitchell defenders will be reinforcing the fact that it is the team that is useless or that BC is useless.

To a certain extent, I do have issues with BC. The O'Neal trade was never my favourite. Our bench is reduced and we virtually have no tradable assets. However, lets see what the remainder of this team can do under Triano. Especially a guy like Graham. If Jay wants the team to use their athleticism and be more free flowing, Graham might flourish if given more of an opportunity.
