GT - Lakers @ Wizards 12/05

Post#1 » by dobrojim » Fri Dec 5, 2008 6:25 pm

Best team we've played yet so hopes can't be very high for our 3 win team.
That said, you gotta play the game.

Lakers reportedly will start with the same lineup they've had all year
Bynum, Gasol, Radmanovic, Kobe, Fisher

we'll probably go with the same crew

Dee Brown, DeShawn, Caron, AJ and McGee

Lakers are big, deep and talented. They beat PHL on Wed night
so they had an off day to prepare for us.

Today's Post reports that the Wizard players are preparing mentally
for the likely onslaught of fans with such little self respect that they
would root for a team, however talented and successful, led by
a player of exceedingly low character. That said, I have nothing bad to say
about the rest of the visiting team, outside of the fact that they're trying
to win in OUR gym and on that basis alone, deserve to be boo'ed lustily.

It will take a herculean effort for the Wizards to win this one.
Gil is NOT expected to play and no other Wizard seems likely to
step up and drop 60 on the visitors. That being the case, we'll
need superior games from every player who steps on the floor
and a scarcity of BS calls from the zebs against the home team.

perhaps the biggest question tonight will be the over/under on wide
open 3 pt looks by LA shooters like Radman, Farmar, Fisher, SashaV,.....
that number has to be at least 15, maybe more.
A lot of what we call 'thought' is just mental activity

We'll get shredded inside by Bynum/Gasol, we'll get out rebounded by Odom, Ariza will frustrate Butler, and they'll rain 3's like they're going out of style. I'm guessing Kobe doesn't play any 4th quarter minutes (because they're up by at least 30) and they'll STILL increase the lead.

Young went toe to toe with Kobe last year in LA.

This year he's going to show him who's boss 8-)

And the fact that I can't stand all the Kobe nut huggers and bandwagon Laker fans that infiltrate OUR arena every year. I wish their was a bandwagon repellent.

The only chance of winning is if Stevenson has another 5-8 outing from 3-point range while Blatche gets 20 and 10 off the bench. We need that in addition to good games from Butler, Young and McGee.

So basically, the likelihood of a win is zero.

i like watching the lakers. I think their second squad actually plays better than their first. their offense is crisp and quick - like a suns team that plays defense. i'm starting to appreciate more and more of the triangle offense and the space it creates. i'm not saying i'm rooting for the lakers but with a basketball team this good, who needs a football team? Of course i say this until sunday when i get myself overly worked up against the ravens. i say we nickname THEM the dirty birds. how long does jamal anderson have rights to that saying?

lakers by 25. Kobe plays 25 minutes. Javale McGee has a career game.

Let's be real, as soon as McGee puts together a few good plays his arse will get benched, because we are "bringing him along slowly."

I agree. I don't see how we keep this one close, absent David Stern suspending the shot clock to commemorate retro night.

If nothing else I would like to see Stevenson tick off Kobe like he did Lebron. Give me some entertainment DS.

Really you want Kobe to go nuts on the Wizards?

I'm sure we'll see Butler imitate Kobe's airplane once tonight :P

Good Luck fellas, and I think you're taking expecting a blowout by the Lakers, I don't think it'll happen, Lakers don't perform the same on the road, I'm sure it'll be closer than a blowout.

Maybe Kobe will go easy on Stevenson because Stevenson said Kobe was so much better than LeBron.

Wiz shoot 78% and 100% from the FT line. Wiz win by 2 on a last second shot by CB as he soars over Kobe and nails a 3ptr from midcourt. McGee shows his amazing quickness in going around Gasol, while Gasol picks up 5 fouls in the first half. AJ shoots his fade aways with absolute perfection.

Wake me up when the game is over.

Well here's a reason I think it'll be more competitive, when we have our bigs needing to defend guys out of the paint, we struggle with the defense.

In this case, Antawn Jamison can shoot the 3 and plays well from outside.

So it'll be more competitive.
