Trade: Boozer and Millsap
Hi Utah fans, Warrior fan here. Just wanted to stop by and ask about the current status of Carlos Boozer and Paul Millsap. I want to know how valuable both are to the franchise and would the Jazz be willing to trade 1 of them for the right package.
I understand that Boozer is in a contract year and he is the source of constant trade rumours and there is the possibility of him jumping ship to another team (Miami) at the end of the year. How important is he to the team at this stage as he will be asking for huge bucks and the emergence of Millsap may force Utah's hand to getting some value out of him now before he maybe walks for nothing like he did to Cleveland.
Was watching you guys play the Raps today and man, that Paul Millsap is a beast and you guys must be in love with his hustle, skills and overall play. Will he be the future starter for Utah and ask for huge bucks? He is a player that the Warriors fans have wanted for a long time and would the Jazz be willing to listen to offers for Mr Millsap? The Warriors have some great young and experienced pieces and Millsap would be awesome for us (and anyone he played for).
What would it take to pry Millsap away from Utah? I would throw a few trades around but I' dont want to disrespect by offering something that you guys would think is junk or not like.

Re: Trade: Boozer and Millsap
You wont pry him away. We aren't interested in trading anyone just getting healthy is #1.
Millsap is a RFA so I doubt he leaves unless someone grossly overpays.
If anything we re-sign everyone hope AK continues to rebuild his trade value and we can deal him around the 2010 trade deadline to avoid Luxury tax.

OK then. How much will Boozer and Millsap be asking for and can you afford them both? Don't forget, you are talking to a Warrior fan here, we overpay grossly for everyone. lol.

Well, I can tell you the guys that would be off limits and the guys that can be had for sure:
Untouchable: Ellis, Biedrins, Randolph.
The rest is open to be traded I think. That leaves some great players like Crawford, Maggette, Brandon Wright and even Jackson. Also the young pieces are Bellineli, Azubuike and Anthony Morrow.

Re: Trade: Boozer and Millsap
Not interested in anyone but Biedrins and thanks to the awful Maggette signing and trading an expiring contract for Crawford you cant and wont be able to afford either Boozer or Millsap.

Re: Trade: Boozer and Millsap
I can't think of any Warriors players we could use or that would fit in with our system. Your best bet would be a three way trade.
With the way Millsap is playing I think somebody will definitely overpay him, I can only hope we match any offer he gets. He's been my favorite player for a while now.

Re: Trade: Boozer and Millsap
I can definately see someone overpaying for Millsap. That kind of bull is rare. At least you guys will be able to afford him if Boozer jumps ship.
By saying "even Jackson", I didn't mean "he's an awesome player and would start anywhere". I meant "The warriors have just extended him and he's the captain".
Well, I hope we massively overpay Mr Millsap like we do for everybody. Good luck on the rest of the year.

Re: Trade: Boozer and Millsap
I say keep Millsap and let Boozer go. Millsap's first start was horrible, but look at every other start (8 games):
35.4mpg 18.3ppg 11.8rpg 2.8apg 1.6spg 1bpg
Now compare that to Boozer: 33.8mpg 20.5ppg 11.7rpg 2.7apg .9spg .3bpg
I don't know about you, but I'll take Millsap's production at half cost, hell even at the same price as long as he brings the defense. It's pointless to have two PFs of their level, and you all know it. We just need to let Boozer go, and draft a PF, and in the meantime AK and Okur can play backup PF minutes while Millsap rests. Koufos is showing he's a good player too, this would give him a few extra minutes if Okur plays some 4.

Sucks for me that I only get the KJZZ games. I've wondered what Millsap could do with starter minutes and have been impressed with his stats. Thanks for the stat comparison Ming, I think you make a great point to keep Millsap for less. I only worry that we struggle to get our wins w/o Booze. Seems like anyway.
As for trading - would Biedrins be untouchable if we were talking Boozer? That seems lop-sided in your favor, if you ask me.
Can't see anyone else interesting.

This wouldn't be lopsided, but I don't see what the hell GS would want with a PF who doesn't play D. In Boozer you have great offense, bad D, and in Biedrins you have good D and good O, pretty much I think Boozer still it a little better, but I'd definitely do the trade in a heart beat:
Biedrins/Koufos/Fesenko
Millsap/Okur/Collins
Miles/Kirilenko/Harpring
Brewer/Korver/Almond
Williams/Knight/Price
What an interesting bench

I don't know what you call overpay but Millsap will get for sure 6+ million a year offers of teams like memphis who are still looking for a starting PF.
If you wanna keep everyone next year you'll be close or over 80 million and that is 5-7 M over the predicted tax.
Just a question, can Okur opt out also next year and become RFA?

That would be the cleaverest move IMHO. Koufos will prove he's a great player as soon as he gets minutes and Millsap is a sure bet.

biedrins is untouchable. he's only 22 years old, fits perfectly with our team, putting up good numbers, plays great defense and re signed for REAAALLLLYYYYYY cheap at $54 million for 6 years. 62 mill if he gets all his incentives. i wouldnt trade him for boozer, millsap or williams
