I just got home from work and missed the game, but glad to see we beat the Blazers, a very good team.

Why was KG yelling at Davis? How did Big Baby look in the game? Was he just not hustling? Was he playing like crap?

Bad debut for him in Boston. That technical early in the game was BS though, in my opinion.

No more of a BS technical than half of the ones against Perkins so far.

But seriously, he had to hang on the rim (with nobody even close to him) and do a chin-up. That's pretty stupid.

Of course ESPN would replay it from 40 different camera angles if he didn't get T'd up...

The only surprise for me as a Blazer fan is that they played so poorly again on a large stage. I guess that comes with the territory of being a young team.

I rooted for your Celtics last year because I have always liked Ray Ray, and I thought I liked KG - until last year anyway. I have never seen a team talk so much crap before in the NBA - ever. It is rather ugly.. It really takes away from the great ball the Celtics play. I am sure you do not see it that way as it is your team. I understand that, but, as someone not a fan of the Celtics first, I can tell you that it is indeed childish and ugly. Was pretty funny though to see Paul Pierce being a mouthy tough guy only to get schooled.

If you make it to the championship again this year, I think I will still root for the Celtics if only they play LA - the hate runs deep for LA. But, it will merely be the lesser of two evils at this jucture as I have come to think some of the Celtics players, with their ugly brow beating and bs talking, have uglied up their team's tradition.

I do not recall Bird, Parish, McKale - et. al. - ever displaying such ugliness.

Can't complain about the results of their play though.

lol! Then come back after you've dug up some game tape and aren't just talking out your

Your talking about two HISTORIC a-holes - and a man who almost killed Bill Laimbeer with his elbows.

They taught Coach Mang everything she knows about instructing our boys to urinate in the eye of the enemy and make ripe the funk of victory.

That is interesting you should bring up the past. In the past, in the NBA, it was only a 50 dollar fine for punching another player in the mouth. If it were that way today, you can bet a number of players would keep their mouths shut.

I am not taking a thing away from your team's play and abilities. They are a great team. They play with a ton of passion and emotion- seemingly every night. That is why they are champs.

It is the trash talking that is pathetic. That is all I am saying; you won't see it that way because its like a Mother admitting her baby is not cute. It wont happen because it is your guys. No worries.

It is like I tell the Laker fans. Enjoy this time. Celtics are kings. And, the Lakers are a Prince hoping to dethrone their Dad. The Blazers are the Lakers younger brother, also a Prince, who is setting out to dethrone them, too. The sun will set on the Celtics big 3 long before the Blazer players even reach their prime.

I expected a beating and unfortunately I was correct. No worries though, that is how a young team learns.

So, I bid thee adieu, and again, if you face the Lakers, please smash them again.

The problem with the league is that it's getting softer and softer. I understand wanting to take fouls that could hurt someone out of the game, but it just causes players to become trasher talkers without fear of retribution.

Watch some tapes of the old 80s games and see how many times the refs swallowed a whistle for hard fouls, especially for idiots who talked a big game and couldn't back it up.

Why dont you ask Glen Davis then?

What is more pathetic, the fact that a teammate would tear so hard into a fellow teammate that a guy ends up crying or the fact the teammate cried?

defenitly the man who cried since KG wasn't even facing Baby when he cried. It was directed at teh second unit. That will be embarrising for Baby in the morning.

As should POR's team. Or you can just blame it on the big bad Celtics who talked too harshly and POR decided to quit on the court.

Maybe I wasn't clear? Bird talked. McHale talked. Parish didn't talk but assaulted people with his elbows. If you go to the gym, tomorrow, the team running others off the court might be what you consider to be classy guys because they aren't talking, or they might be people you consider to be jerks because they are talking. But the question is, does it really matter? They're men playing a sport, and the majority of the victors at that have talked trash for millenia, and yes they eventually fall, and those who rooted for them and knew (at the time) we were enjoying a moment in the sun will resent the passing of their time and by association our time etc etc etc ...

..but does it really matter enough to be the guy going around saying 'hey, your team that wupped us isn't classy like I like my grown men playing sports to be'? We see it. We know it. We'll take it! Because life is short and this is sports we're talking about - and if you want both the best players and those who fit your own particular sensibilities about how much bravado is optimal to have, then you're bound to have a long wait. Root for the Spurs. And the Hakeem/Clyde Rockets. That's all I can come up with in the last 30 years.

That simply is not the case. Portland was outplayed by a superior team on both ends of the court. The pathetic bickering doesnt score points or defend them; your players do that, and they do a great job of it. That is my whole point. The Celtics play speaks volumes to how good they are as a team - the pathetic trashtalking diminishes the value of these same actions / attributes.

Okay, really leaving now. hhee. Good luck this year - not that I think the Celtics need any.

Being a fan of the Celtics probably makes me biased and it's nice for a non-Celtics fan to come in and give a non-biased insight about the team. I had never perceived the team as being "childish" or "ugly," but you've made me aware of how offensive the Celtics truly are. I look forward to more insights you have about our team in the future. :D

Well, it was a good game for about 22 minutes. The Celtics looked good. The Blazers definitely did not look like the same team we've been watching the past 18 games or so. Hopefully they'll find themselves again and be ready for Boston when they come to town. Good luck and continued success ... except against the Blazers!

I think that KG made Baby cry because he wasn't playing like he had 4 other guys on the floor with him and his defense sucked. It was making me nervous seeing Rondo call for the ball and Baby not pay attention to him. I believe he intended on forcing it up with two 7 footers around him right before turning it over.

Bird was one of the biggest trashtalkers the game has ever seen. He used to tell his opponents places he was going to shoot the ball.

Ha, that may have been the nicest thing Bird ever said in his career.

For Bird, think KG trashtalking as well as actually punching the other players.

And if POR didn't quit then why did they not play transistion defense? They got tooken out of there game and went into a shy hole. To be honest they are all really young so that can happen. They put too much in this one game and then at the first sign of trouble decided they were doomed.

I remember that one classic game in which LB kept a running score against Dr. J... and when the score was something like 35 to 4... Dr. J lost it and slugged LB...

Agreed. I am at the point now where I don't like Davis at all...I'd been ragging on him for a while on this board but the crying game was the final straw...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Return to Boston Celtics
