LFrank should design a couple of plays for Yi to attack the basket. He has the athleticism and quickness to be good at it. He may not be very good at finishing around the rim now. However, the more he does it, the better he becomes. This combination of inside-outside game will make him more effective offensively.

So how do you watch the games?
Are all the Nets games(I would imagine Rockets as well) televised on regular cable?
Or do you have to order the YES Network or NBA League Pass?
Or do you watch them on the internet?

That first one is ridiculous. He's gonna' be a stud. 22. 25. 24. Whatever. He's got a lot of tools for the coaching staff to work with.

OK, so here's another question.
Does anyone know for sure what age he really is?
He is listed as 21, but I have heard the rumors that his birth certificate has been altered and he is actually 24.
I thought maybe someone closer to his younger playing days in China might have better and more reliable information on this.

Well there was a list recently released of players from the CBA whose birthdates were altered and they now list the correct ones.

It probably wouldn't shock many if Yi turned out to be 24, however the 2 other Chinese players currently in the NBA...Yao Ming and Sun Yue both are listed at their real ages, yet all that matters with those two players is what they can add to the team.

I think if Yi, just like Yao, can get the summer off from Chinese National Team duties he can work on his game a lot more. He has shown some flashes of his potential, whether it's 21..24...26....if he can play, then he can play. It wouldn't matter if he's 21 or 18, if he continues to have to play for China every single summer he'll never get the chance to develop his skills

no answer for me. :D

the only thing interested me is that Yi keep improving those years.
He can show you what he had done in CBA someday.

He is building his body for NBA, even if he is 24, no problem.

More surprise is waiting for you.

The most reliable evidence is Yi's passport, on which he was listed 21 year old.
Yi also had a bonage test prior to his arrival of USA, the result was 19 y.o( that was back in ealry 2007)
Yi played in CBA for 4 seasons. In his first season he was listed as a 16 year old/6'10 3/4 with shoes on...he was indeed a boy back then.

On the other hand there were a couple so-called "evidences", like his former USA teammate THINKS his 22. Shane Battier told the media that Yi told him during a game that he was 22...then he turned back on himself saying he cant remember if Yi said that to him...Oh well whatever.

I don't agree with you.
in this summer, Yi gained a lot of experience with the National team that is important to develop his career.

Yao never absent for the national team.

What really bothers me is people...a lotta people on realgm tend to believe what they wanna believe. Some of those members keep mentioning those "evidences" like they really are solid and credible...I mean come on, you go ask my grandma how old she thinks Greg Oden really is she would come up with 39 instead of 19.

Oden should be 59 or more  , but he is a rookie, he need to develop himself for 2or3 years.

So, hopefully we can see a powerful Oden at his 61 or more.

I don't think you understood what I said, I'm talking about every single summer forcing Yi Jianlian to play for the National team. Do you really think he'd gain a lot of experience playing this summer for the National Team when there are no major world tournaments? And whether or not Yi Jianlian gained experienced just facing more competition in the Olympics, he was still clearly struggling in aspects of his game which he could have improved had he had the time to develop through training.

And yes Yao has been absent for the national team, whether it was because of injury or any other reason, he wasn't with the CNT when they played in the Summer Pro League. That was the summer where Yi really showed some of his talent, especially because he was the #1 option.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying Yi Jianlian...Yao Ming...or any other future Chinese player to make it to the NBA should never play for the National Team....but if they play every single summer not only could they miss valuable training...it's more wear and tear on their bodies, especially for someone the size of Yao Ming.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
