So a number of teams have horribly over-valued Marbury. The guy's worth is vastly overrated. Is that a reasonable compromise?
Actually, I think he's underrated; right now anyways. He did have some minor success in the playoffs with the Suns. He helped take the Spurs to 6 games, in a year where the Spurs ended up winning the title. People also forget that the Suns started off slowly the following season because Amare Stoudemire got injured.
Granted in New York, he was given a contract he didn't deserve. But that seemed to be the case for several Knicks (Jerome James, Jamal Crawford, Eddy Curry, Jared Jeffries, Allan Houston). The Knicks with the help of Layden and Isiah Thomas became a Raideresque organization where few players could achieve success. Even Larry Brown couldn't turn it around.
