Thanks Miles.

My father was ill and then passed a few weeks back. It's been pretty rough.

Thank goodness for the Lakers season. Nothing like having passion for soemthing I love to keep me sane. I took my dad to 3 Laker games last year. He had a blast.

I wish he could have seen this team.

Oh man. I'm terribly sorry, brother. You're a good son though, taking care of your dad like that. I don't do enough myself. Hard to get around the idea that dads are mortal.

You never think they will be gone one day, and then the day comes when they're gone. It can be pretty devastating. I did everything I could. Being a doc in that situation can be good and bad.
He was a good man. Lots of good memories. Specially at the Laker games. Beer and Nachos were his favorites. He loved Kobe too.

^What a loss. But sounds like he couldn't have asked for a better son.

Sorry for the loss RD :(

May he rest in piece

I had a nightmare man where my mom passes away and it felt so real that I realized I was in tears when I woke up. Not a good feeling.

Solid win. Defense was great through 3 quarters, and the starters in particular did a great job of staying focused. Really, our starters have done a good job overall on defense, with the main lapses coming with our 2nd unit. Tonight the 2nd unit did a better job though. While we gave up a ton of points in the last 6 minutes of the game, it was primarily because we emptied our benches (Powell, Mihm, Yue, etc.).

I think come playoff time when our starters are getting more minutes we'll see some very strong, consistent defense, so while I've been one of the bigger complainers recently of our lack of defense by the reserve squads, we'll be fine in the grand scheme of things.

Also, if we want to compare our performance to that of the Celtics and Cavs (in terms of the past few weeks), I've noticed that they tend to leave their starters in the game at later stages than we do (see their recent play-by-play), whether it's a blowout or not. This is why you don't see the Celtics or Cavs squandering large leads. Although I wouldn't mind seeing Phil do a little more of this by leaving a few starters in the game deep into the 4th, I think come playoff time we'll be the ones with fresher legs as a result.

I hope so.

While we played pretty well defensively, I thought a lot of the Bucks' woes stemmed from the fact that, A. They missed a ton of wide-open looks, and B. Skiles got pissed at his starters and decided to bench them. Not to piss on the parade, though. The effort was generally good -- I just think you could blame them just as much as credit us.

We still have a lot to prove as a defensive team, and I need to see more to have much confidence that we'll be able to stop people when it counts.

Regarding the playing time, I think Phil is super cognizant of the fact that Kobe and Pau both had long summers with the Olympics, and is doing everything in his power to keep them fresh. As much as it might frustrate us at times, I think it's the only way to go.

Especially with Kobe having crested the 1,000-game plateau. Keeping him under 35 minutes a game on a consistent basis is going to be crucial towards extending his career and maintaining his impact as his athletic ability wanes.

Kobe and Pau having to spend some extra time on the bench is a good thing in more ways than one.

LRD, my condolences. Judging by how you have always carried yourself here, the good man in him will live on in you, bud. I'm terribly sorry about your loss.
