Reading between the lines, it seems certain to me that Witt is gone today. They just don't want to announce it until they've decided on an interim, which they'll figure out today. I've always assumed McHale wanders into the office ~10-10:30. We'll see how long it takes.

If this is indeed the end for Wittman, he'll leave the Wolves' bench with one of the lowest career winning percentages of all-time at .326. He has a career record of 100-207, going 62-102 in two seasons as Cleveland's coach (1999-2000 and 2000-01) and a record of 38-105 since taking over from Dwane Casey on Jan. 23, 2007. The Wolves were 20-20 in the 2006-07 season when Casey was dismissed, then went 12-30 under Wittman in Garnett's last days in Minnesota.

Just because I think the above can never be mentioned enough.

I think the delay is McHale agreeing to be the interim coach. Much as we like Mitchell, he's not going to be named coach now as the interim coach always comes from internal sources. I think it's a long shot for McHale to be fired as well.

You know what, I actually want McHale to coach this team and hopefully they either sink or swim. If they swim, then we'll know we got the players who they can build for, and if they sink, I have to believe that will be the end of Kevin McHale as GM (please!), so I think McHale coaching is a win-win situation for us.

If I were Taylor I would say "Kevin, Randy is out and I want you to take over as coach and I want to see significant progress by the end of the season or you will be gone, too. This is your new job. Take it or leave it. If you don't want to coach this team, then I will be happy to sign your resignation."

Go read the Mitchell fired thread on the Raptors board. Seems like us complaining about Wittman. Do we really want that again?

That is what I would like to see, but he won't.

Toronto fans would be laughing at our misfortune. He is the Raptors' Randy Wittman.

The big difference being Sam Mitchell has actually led a team to the playoffs.

Right to those first round exits we enjoy so much in Minnesota.

Which one worked out?

That's a good question. And how exactly was Foye a gamble?

It was a huge mistake, no doubt. But I'm not sure how it was a gamble.

it was not really a gamble other than the fact he was a lower pick there was now way to tell which player would be better.

Except, of course, by watching them play basketball.
