The Wolves are the 23rd most valuable franchise at about $300 mil, but not much seperates #20 from #30. That's a slight dip from last year's number, and only eight teams decreased in value. MIN has revenues of about $100 mil (about average for teams 13-30), and is one of only ten teams to lose money, though only a small amount ($5.7 mil).

Minnesota doesn't care about NBA basketball. Wolves have to be balling in order for us to do well.

You can say that about virtually every sport here. We are a bandwagon state. When the Vikes do poorly, we are threatened with blackouts due to poor ticket sales. The Northstars got shipped out of town, and the Twins continuously have near the lowest payroll in baseball.

We do bandwagon but at the end of the day, Minnesotans love their twins, love their wild, and LOVE their Vikings. People get pissed at them of course but people are always wearing their team gear and looking forward to their seasons. Nobody feels that way about the wolves. I wolves could win a title and they still wont get the love that the Twins, Vikings, and Wild get. We are behind Gophers football and basketball too.

We don't have the type of fans who will pay to see crap or who will come out to see crap. If they feel like the product sucks and isn't entertaining, you will see a drop in attendance. Even when the Vikings were going through the early Mike Tice days, they were still selling out cause Culpepper to Moss was entertaining at the very least. When Childress came in here with his boring ball, and they were losing, fans were like, "I'm not watching this or paying to see it". For the Wolves, it's similar. Let's not kid ourselves, we're not the most entertaining brand of ball ever, so when you're 4-15, it's a hard sell. If we played like Phoenix and were 4-15, we'd be a better sell.
The other problem with the Wolves is that they really have only had one truly great season in their entire history. And they're only 20 years old. The Vikings are historic. The Twins have won 2 championships. The Wild are a hockey team, and we all know we're a hockey state. The Gophers are the major university of the state, they'll always have some level of support. What do the Timberwolves have?
